Sep 15th 2011 12:51PM (Joystiq)I remember a few years ago they re-released a free version of Far Cry that was ad supported in a very similar (though more obvious) way on loading screens.... and for that reason the game was totally free to play.
That was fine.
In this scenario there is no excuse, you pay a full $60 for a game only to have the same treatment. The game sounds great, but this is a really offensive thing to do to your customers. How about you sell the game for $40 if you're going to pipe unsolicited advertisement into the game? Or better yet, reserve the feature for only used copies of the game to combat the revenue loss that publishers see from the used games market?
