Nintendo does promote some WiiWare games. You just have to download the Nintendo Channel... which is tucked away in a hidden vault found on the Wii Shop Channel.

And most of the promotional stuff is hidden inside weekly videos where a guy and a girl pretend to play games and overact... that is, if the Nintendo Channel could even handle a video stream.

At least they're allowing demos again.

I guess this means if you GIFTED someone the browser, the GIFTER gets squat. I wonder if my girlfriend's Wii will be able to get a free NES game. If so, could she gift the NES game to ME, considering that we live together now and my Wii is the primary console?
