Chrono Trigger's wireless mode to support 2 players

Aug 13th 2008 9:38AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
You don't see many DS online co-op games 'cos, like any Nintendo console with online capabilities, the online portion is a joke. Plain and simple.

As for local co-op, I don't know. I love it. My girlfriend and I used to play Mario Kart and Clubhouse Games. It was a blast. Hell, so was Picto-chat.

Top 5: Upcoming Original IPs from Third Parties

Aug 11th 2008 1:10PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Maybe it's just me but I hated Eternal Darkness. I got so far in the game and just got stuck. The game seemed to be an exercise in boredom.

Too Human seems to bear the same fate - overhyped with piss poor camera and controls. I, for one, am not excited about anything this company turns out.

Which Nintendo system favored third-party publishers the most?

Jul 30th 2008 10:25AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I call BS on this. I agree - SNES has the best 3rd party support by a huge margin. It was THE system. However, are really supposed to believe that the Gamecube had more 3rd party support than the NES or DS? Sounds a bit revisionist to me.

A Mac tablet? Not just no, but 'heck no'

Jul 23rd 2008 12:30PM (TUAW.com)
All I can say is thank you for bringing some sense to this rumor. I'm so sick of hearing the tablet nerds complain about wanting a touchable OS X.

Get over it. It's a bad idea.

Oklahoma City claims world's largest municipal WiFi mesh network, leaves public out

Jun 4th 2008 10:19AM (Engadget)
Being a resident of OKC, I'm going to risk putting my foot in my mouth here.

I imagine the city "core" probably covers a good deal of Oklahoma County. As chrisaroz said, the routers are everywhere. OKC is supposed to be 621 square miles with 244 square miles of that "urbanized". I'd guess that the core would probably cover most of that urbanized section for this to be of any use to emergency and city personnel.

Lucasarts: Adventure games might come back, DS cart size too small for ports

Jun 2nd 2008 5:27PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Sweet jesus - 4mbs of RAM? That's pretty sad.

I still have some of our old 4mb sticks floating around. I remember my dad helping me to get Sam and Max run in DOS with music. What fun.

But yeah, a quick glimpse reveals that Sam & Max Hit the Road only needs 4mb of RAM. Full Throttle is 8mb. And Grim Fandango is a whopping 32mb.

Seriously, though, Nintendo needs to not be so damn cheap. Up the RAM!

Lucasarts: Adventure games might come back, DS cart size too small for ports

The specs escape me at the moment but even Full Throttle didn't require THAT high end of a system to play. I'm sure the DS can match the specs.

I find it hard to believe RAM is the issue 'cos I'd bet the DS has more RAM then your average mid-to-late 90s PC did. I imagine most of the size of theses games comes from the music and voice overs.

Retrospective: Nintendo's past peripherals

Maybe it's just me but I remember, quite clearly, some sort of wheel being released with "Excite Truck".

Emulating the gaming world on DS

May 22nd 2008 1:52PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Eh. That's a workable solution but certainly not a good one.

I guess my desire to play Mother 3 on a handheld will be outweighed by my desire not to blow another $20 bucks on something I don't really need.

Emulating the gaming world on DS

Maybe this is a dumb question but is there a GBA emulator out there for the DS? I'd like to buy a CycloDS cart and play Mother 3 once the translation patch is finished. I know I could buy a GBA flash cart, too, but it seems like a waste.
