If Google was denied, it's pretty funny that they think its has a trademark. They are acting more or less deceptive about it:

Trademark != Copyright.

Trademark you have to defend or else it becomes diluted and protects common words/phrases. Copyright applies to works of art. Also the tests for infringement of trademark vs copyright are completely different.

Maybe he means the fact you can set up your blackberrys to access your internal network (i.e. web servers etc) while they are out in the wild? I don't think the iphone can do that out of the box.
