Rumorang: Warhammer Online heading to consoles

Dec 28th 2006 5:55PM (Joystiq)
@ Autocrawler: "Gah, if WHO is going to be on consoles with controller-based controls and sharing servers with the PC version, I'm definitely not buying it, since all it can mean is that it is being dumbed down. WoW is simplistic enough for a MMORPG, I can't see how MORE simplification is possible."

I guess you haven't played FFXI...

Rumorang: Warhammer Online heading to consoles

Dec 28th 2006 4:33PM (Joystiq)
Given the simplicity of Xbox 360 / PC correlation (especally with Xbox Live Anywhere), I have a feeling that this is going to become more of a regular occurance. With FFXI setting the (somewhat disappointing) precedent and with Conan and Huxley on the way, MMOs are becoming more prominent on the 360. Plus, teh keyboard support is already there. I'd personally buy this game if it was on the 360: just so I could be gaurenteed a solid performance.

Can Wii break nongamer barrier with Opera browser?

@14, Vinsm: "14. It has javascript so hopefully I'll be able to play poker online with it. PokerRoom is one of the only ones with java these days I think."

Whoa, careful there. Javascript support and Java support are two very different things. Wiki is your friend.

flOw stalled until 2007

I was very surprised to see Sony pick out such a desirable title. The once-university-thesis-turned-game-phenom really is a cool little game, and I'd gladly pay out the dollars for it.

Alas, it's going to take a lot more than a good arcade game to make the PS3 Hub a success.

To the theme song of Cheers (Gary Portnoy and Judy Hart's "Where Everyone Knows Your Name")

Making your way into the break room not sure of what you'll find.
Perhaps Dwight's put meters on the toilet as if you wouldn't mind.

Wouldn't you like to take the day?

Sometimes you want to go

Where Jim and Pam play their love game,
Where no two days are quite the same.
You wanna be where you'll find me,
Sleeping in the back next to Toby,
But it's hard to do, when Micheal remembers
Your name.

But hey at least your not the temp
Whose name I already forgot;
And I guess it could be worse, you could be Phillis
Who sure says "Bob Vance" a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?

Sometimes you want to go

Where an FBI inquiry gets Dwight the blame,
And where Todd Packer has no shame.
You wanna be where you'll find me,
Sleeping in the back next to Toby,
But it's hard to do, when Micheal remembers
Your name.

Assault Heroes coming to XBLA Wednesday

Dec 12th 2006 8:29AM (Joystiq Xbox)
I don't know what it is about the 800 MSP price point, but god if it doesn't make a game more appealing.

Here's hoping there's coop over Live and it's not like Contra-glitchy. That'll be enough to win over my moneies.

Free RoboBlitz multiplayer in '07

Dec 11th 2006 10:30AM (Joystiq Xbox)
As much as I support the XBLA/indie community, it's hard for me to recommend RoboBlitz. It's definately a pretty game; and only more impressive when you consider the fact that it's running on the Unreal 3 engine with a capacity of 50mb, it's certainely a technical accomplishment. However, the actual gameplay is hampered by some really, really poor control. I recognize the physics-based movement of an object rolling around on a single ball as accurate, but that doesn't mean it's enjoyable to control: Blitz just feels out of control most of the time, which makes navigating many of the platforming puzzles a chore, let alone just wheeling around. All the prettiness in the world can't mask that.

I'm actually really disappointed. Both Small Arms and RoboBlitz have fallen short of my expectations. Was I expecting too much? Possibly. All I can hope is that Castle Crashers saves the XBLA for me. I don't want Cloning Clyde to be the best indie game on the arcade.

WRUP: v = u + at edition

Dec 8th 2006 10:08AM (Joystiq Xbox)
I recently reignited my love affair with COD3, so I'll be taking a break from Gears to play some of that - though the thought of coop with you, Rich, has made me swoon.
