Ernst & Young, Microsoft to use Home to hold virtual meetings

Sony do allow homebrew. In the form of otherOS, linux and spu apis. Oh you were thinking about executing stuff on the gpu and it's memory? Sony is held captive by their business model. They sell their consoles at a loss, but make up for it in game licenses. If anybody could execute arbitrary code on it for free, nobody would ever pay such licenses.

PS3 Fanboy review: Buzz! Quiz TV

I can answer this. Bluetooth is overkill for a device with 5 digital buttons, and surprisingly expensive. Not to mention not very power friendly at all. I'm pretty sure a bluetooth implementation would easilly add a 15$ for each buzzer. And I allso think sony is right that a lower price and longer battery life is worth more for the vast majority than saving a usb port (even though I'm annoyed by it too).

PlayOn beta allows streaming Hulu; Netflix support planned

512mb ram should be plenty to stream higher quality flash videos.

While I'm writing this, I'm using the opera web browser. I have 16 tabs open, where atleast half of them has flash content, and 2 of them are streaming good quality flash video. Certainly heavier than average use, but it uses 245mb while the flash is not playing, and 255mb when it does.

European PSN update for June 19th

Jun 19th 2008 11:45AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Enough about the localization. There are only a handfull countries receiving localized content. Personally I'm from norway, and only until the last years have we been offered any foreign game in norwegian at all. Heavenly sword is actually the only one I can think of. The same is correct for many other EU countries. Why not offer the same content as the in the us, and rather later on offer localized.

Anybody in better know than me who's actually getting localized content, please speak up. I believe it's only spain, france, italy and perhaps germany.

PlayTV priced and dated, but not really

The ps3 is a too power hungry to stay on standby all day. They currently run at around 150watts versus the worst pvr running at 10watts (and usually lower). This will typically increase power bills 150-200$ yearly. Not to mention it's still way too noisy. I think this will be more attractive when the 32nm cells (might) come into the ps3 late next year.

Interplay revived, could Earthworm Jim follow?

I'd buy even a port of the old ewj games

Interview with SCE engineers reveal BD-Live, firmware plans

... and don't get me started on breaking breaking the beloved, although limited DLNA support. Well atleast every mp4 file I had are now unplayable over the network.

The ps3 on paper is for me almost perfect. I don't care much about gui redesigns, home at certainly not in-game xmb. What I want is the ps3 work as told in commercials. This means be a decent DLNA player, with full support of divx/xvid, full support for h264/mp4... etc.
