Jan 31st 2011 11:03AM (Slashfood)Do You Want to See a Live Action Superman and Batman Movie?
Jan 7th 2011 2:28PM (Moviefone Blog)As for the whole Marvel vs. DC thing, I don't really see Marvel's cross-over gimmicks as doing anything to make their movies better. I'd much prefer if DC continued to focus on getting out faithful and respectful translations of their properties, like the Batman movies or even Watchmen. Superman Returns wasn't exactly amazing, but I can also see how someone might have thought it would be a good idea. Green Lantern also looks on-track to be a surprisingly faithful adaptation by a well-respected director.
I don't have much faith in Zack Snyder, but I do hope he manages to give Superman the breath of fresh air that franchise needs so badly.
New iPhone Apps Demystify Shopping and Storing Food
Jan 7th 2011 1:29PM (Slashfood)Aside from both appearing in food products sometimes, hydrolyzed collagen has almost nothing in common with MSG, so I have no idea what this is getting at. MSG is a flavour enhancer, while collagen is more closely related to gelatin. It's considered a good source of protein and as far as I can tell is mostly used as a supplement for skin/joint health. And that, specifically, is why you would find it in a protein bar.

What about The Black Hole in 1979?
Re: "box office disaster"
It made back its modest budget ($17M) plus a little extra. Calling it a disaster is hyperbole.
Re: "The video game was more popular then the movie"
I've never played, seen, or heard of this game. But I have seen the movie 3 or 4 times in the last 25 years.
Re: "so awful"
Well, it's a divisive movie, but a lot of people (including critics) really like it.
Re: "Korny special effects"
Maybe you're just forgetting the context of the movie, but for its time (1982), the effects were extremely ambitious and most people thought they did a pretty amazing job.
Re: "Howard the Duck"
Howard the Duck grossed a third of what Tron did, while costing twice as much to make. It's just not comparable.
Re: "Rob Zombie's remakes of bad horror movies"
I have no idea what this has to do with Tron, for starters. But ignoring that, Rob Zombie has really only done one remake -- Halloween, where the original is actually quite well respected.
Paper Takes on "Food Snobs" in Portland
Oct 19th 2010 10:46AM (Slashfood)Oddly, the argument he uses against foodie-ism is precisely why I *am* so interested in food. He's right: food is what you eat... And you need it to live... And it provides all the energy and nutrients that your body, your earthly shell, uses to grow and sustain itself. Without that, you have nothing. To downplay its importance is self-destructive. I still believe that there's more than a little truth in the phrase "You are what you eat," and frankly I'd rather not be a bag of Doritos and a Double Down.
Christopher Nolan Casts 'Inception' Actor Tom Hardy in 'Batman 3'
Oct 14th 2010 8:52AM (Moviefone Blog)For anyone not familiar with the comics, Hush is the alter ego of a person from Bruce Wayne's childhood who has held a long-time grudge. He then spends the next two decades setting up an elaborate revenge that involves several of Batman's most dangerous enemies.
