Review: Final Fantasy XIII

Mar 5th 2010 1:19PM (Joystiq)
As an avid RPG player, I['m probably going to play 150 hours of the game all told. Take the main story to the end, then do all the sidequests and big monsters that they say are more powerful than the mainline bosses. So 15 hours to warm up doesn't sound too bad. I assume that time will be linear but still enjoyable.

TGS 2009: New Final Fantasy XIII trailer is heavy on story, light on English

FF games are always plot-heavy with many revelations. A game like this, which has an excellent chance of becoming the best selling game of all time, should have a world wide release. Between December and April there are going to be spoilers everywhere, and any avid gamer is going to have a very difficult time not seeing them, no matter how hard they try.

Free St. Patrick's Day & Monkey King costumes coming to LittleBigPlanet

Mar 14th 2009 10:53AM (Joystiq Playstation)
It is wrong to release these holiday themed costumes right on the holiday. Who wants to wear a St. Patrick's costume _after_ the day? You want to wear it _leading up to_ the day. Release it a week earlier!

Fallout 3 hands-on: Four hours in the Wasteland

I don't like all these WWII clone games WWII with aliens, WWII with zombies... I'm an RPG guy. Yet, I loved Oblivion because rather than a fighter I could be a mage, and there were lots of RPG elements. Can I make this be an exploring game, or will I be constantly having to fight WWII style?

Final Fantasy retrospective: Part X

Sep 26th 2007 5:39PM (Joystiq)
FF The Spirits Within was the kind of movie I call good but a mess. Another movie like this was Cutthroat Island. The problem with such movies was that the plot is not understandable enough on first viewing. But if you watch the movie a few times, it all comes together and is enjoyable. The problem is movies that need to be watched several times to be understood aren't - at least not in theaters, and they flop badly.

The very best movies by the way work in layers, they have a basic layer that is understood and enjoyed on first viewing, but on subsequent viewings you get deeper points and enjoy it even more.
