Joystiq's new commenting system is live

Is it really live? Because I don't see it. Plus threads seem to be completely gone from even the rickety thing.

@MuneBeam
I think it's funny the actually says there will be F2P games like Skyrim.. When, seriously, what is Champions Online? Or demo-WoW? Skyrim is pretty much a single-player player MMO. This guy's head is in the sand.

You can tell it's in the sand, because his giggly little girl quote was "monetization super-highway". Good luck with that.

You don't seem to get it, or maybe you're just being really nice.. Game publishers and some developers don't give a crap about social networking beyond it being a bullet point that hopefully increases their profits, or a potential vector for viral marketing. The main reason "social networking" is hot, is because it allows the application to phone home to prevent piracy, and the whole "features" argument gives them wiggle room when making excuses to their customers.

The sad part is: it falls completely flat. Nobody denies the internet enables some really amazing features, but nobody used to neglect an offline component of their games either until the anti-piracy brigade started screaming bloody murder. Until games became uber-big-money. Now we have single-player games requiring persistent connections (Assassin's Creed 2), and online passes.

I will have you know that Honolulu was absolutely instrumental to the revolution.

It's not like LA Noire without LA. I will in no way deny Philly's importance to the birth of the nation, but it was not the only major theater. Boston and New York were also instrumental. I'd say this is more like exactly what happened in AC2: set a game in Italy, but without Rome. I mean, Venice and Florence are important and nice...but...come on, Rome! And no, Rome on Rails doesn't count.

I don't know what you're on about. I know Joystiq has a vested interest in showing me as many ads as possible without alienating me from the site, and, in what many may feel is a bizarre irony, there ARE plenty of times when I _want_ a link to show me prior Joystiq coverage of something.

But when I _can't_ find a real, non-joystiq link, I do get mighty P-O'ed. And I don't want to have to click past the freaking break to see it.
