Rumor: Sega pulls funding on Aliens: Colonial Marines, Aliens RPG

Feb 12th 2009 5:16PM (Joystiq)
i don't see the aliens game being canned this late in it's cycle. it would be extremely wasteful of the money put into the project EVEN if they used all of the tech gearbox made in the AvP game. with the way the games industry has been getting hammered by the economy lately, i think sega would be twisting the knife in their gut by canning a GEARBOX GAME.

Amazon casual game pricing causes waves with publishers

Feb 12th 2009 5:11PM (Joystiq)
seems like no matter how much amazon tries to do what's best for the consumer, everyone else fights them tooth and nail. they don't tax us, refuse to put any DRM on music, let us stream AND download videos, and now they want to offer us games at a price that could give the casual games market a boost as well as make it accessible to the regulars on amazon.

i think it's "completely unacceptable" that popcap thinks it's games are worth $10 to begin with...

Rockstar ditches Amazon, goes with iTunes for music partnership

Feb 10th 2009 8:04PM (Joystiq)
just another example of "going with the masses" instead of with what is technically superior, or what is overall a better end product. amazon's mp3 service has always carried more of my "niche" musical tastes, offered me better file quality, and has never put DRM on any of it. it just downloads as a plain mp3 and doesn't jump through conversion loops to aac and m4a and junk like that.

i have no clue what extent this partnership is, or how it will all work, or what, but it sucks seeing crap supported for the sake of the huge number of sheep that use it.

T-Mobile G1's RC33 update includes Google Latitude

Feb 4th 2009 4:47PM (Engadget)
i hope this RC33 has more than just latitude. im not asking for cupcake, or even anything near that level, but if they can fix a few bugs here or there it would be nice.

if i install and uninstall too many apps within a short amount of time it makes my phone run extremely slow(even after reboot), my pictures/photos thumbnail cache files to be corrupt, and my phone to say there is no SD card inserted when i go into camera mode. (instead of wiping the phone though i found i could just uninstall a handful of apps i don't really use, and then delete the camera and pictures thumbnail folders so the phone will have to recreate them. so at least it's a workaround for now.)

Yes, Resident Evil 5 has a 5GB install

Feb 2nd 2009 5:20PM (Joystiq Playstation)
you know im surprised how long my 160gb hard drive i put into my 60gb unit has lasted me.

i seem to always have around 40gb left over with full seasons of shows, ripped movies, around 10 game installs or so, music, and photos on it. then demos on there too. as soon as i beat a game i delete the game data file and leave the save file alone, so no problem there. at least the xmb makes it easy to manage all that. my only worry is disk fragmentation or sloppy uninstalls. (so i would eventually have a small amount of space left over even tho most stuff is deleted)

Sony: PS3 will remain most expensive console

Jan 30th 2009 6:14PM (Joystiq)
a price drop is coming... and soon. why can't they just shut their mouths when people ask about it and just give the usual "no comment" or "no immediate plans" bit that is kinda standard? geez...

Valve teases 'very different' TF2 mode, possible new class

Jan 21st 2009 12:33PM (Joystiq)
im getting dejavu. how many times have we seen this "new game mode and class" rumor now? i would always reply with:

"bring back VIP!"

Reuters: Final Fantasy XIII coming to Japan 2009, overseas after April 2010

Jan 15th 2009 5:36PM (Joystiq)
they've had more than enough time to finish and release this game now. they just decided to put all their man power to work on DS games to get quick cash. i don't really blame them, but i do think it sucks that FFXIII was announced so soon in relation to when SE was targeting a realistic release window.

PSN's '17 million' statistic includes PS3, PSN, official forums

Jan 14th 2009 7:35PM (Joystiq)
in order to keep using your old playstation underground account you had to convert it to a psn account. so all the PU accounts turned into PSN.

im pretty sure their announcing of 17 million users was prior to that being forced upon all PU members. it was definitely OPEN to convert your account around then, but not yet required. so it's kinda fuzzy.

either way it's still impressive considering the xbl's lead on psn and ps3.
