This is kind of weird caus I think the existing rules for 'no weapons' were relaxed specifically for Gears 3. I know they didn't allow them when avatars were first brought out caus people were asking for Lancers and what have you. Then they did show up for Gears 3 (maybe for others games before then, not sure) which just made me think they'd got rid of that rule just to add another revenue stream.

Now they flip flop again to get rid of them? Strange.

When it came out, it was 800 points as an introductory offer of sorts for the first month. Then I think it's either been deal of the week or a part of some other sale (Christmas or Black Friday maybe) at 800 again so unless they go lower than that, it doesn't seem too big a deal.

More levels is good though.
