Grandpa Aaron loves Bioshock, can't wait to see you for Thanksgiving
Nov 5th 2011 10:25PM (Joystiq)My grandpa on my mom's side recently passed away, but neither him nor my other grandpa were techno-savvy in the least. My dad on the other hand is a fiend. He's not very good, but he plays everything. He's obsessed with Black Ops (even though he's color-blind and can't use the map). He's gone through RDR, Bioshock, Dead Space, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and tons of others. Out of all my friends he's the only dad I know who plays, so I feel very fortunate to have that different bond with him.
He's 55, so he's not super-duper old, but it's still rare. Right now we're trying to get through the co-op on Battlefield 3. He's not so great at the stealth stuff. :)
Battlefield 3 slowly drops multiplayer map details
Oct 13th 2011 9:47PM (Joystiq)Yeah...that's amazing. Wonder if they only got away with it because they have the LOTR movie license.
Mass Effect 3's multiplayer tied to Online Pass
Oct 13th 2011 2:24AM (Joystiq)I'm not saying every little bit doesn't count, what I'm saying is depriving yourself of any amount of enjoyment of the online pass is not going to make EA care one little bit. And I vote by writing in "Jack Bauer", do you not?
What I meant by the vegetarian comment is they do it because they feel some animals will live because of their choice, which is not true sadly. I have vegan friends and we get into it all the time. It just ties back to the first part in that just because you don't buy it, don't expect EA to suddenly swap and stop using online passes.
Mass Effect 3's multiplayer tied to Online Pass
Oct 13th 2011 1:13AM (Joystiq)As for the online pass, ME2 had one, so I didn't think they'd randomly get rid of it for 3. I don't necessarily think that they're a good thing, but it's ridiculous for people to get up in arms over them, especially when half of them are also pissed about multiplayer, which the online pass would be endorsing.
And 'boycotting' EA or Bioware by buying it used is a total nonfactor. The game will still sell bajillions of copies, and the (maybe) few thousand who purposefully get it used to stick it to the man aren't going to dent it. It's the same thing with every other kind of movement (vegetarian, vegan): it's cool you believe in something enough to stand up for it, but to realistically expect your personal stance to change anything in the long run is a bit far fetched.
Cursed Crusade demo now available on Xbox Live
Oct 13th 2011 1:07AM (Joystiq)The combat seemed super rigid. No flow to the swings, and such similar 'kill moves' that it took the fun out real quick. The crossbow mechanism was a bit clunky too.
Until I read this post I had no idea Atlus had a hand in this. To me it really feels like an indie studio's attempt at a big-budget type title. Hopefully this is a fairly early demo?

Aug 29th 2011 4:02PM (Joystiq)Once again, you saying things does not make them so. Just because someone thinks a game is great does not make them a mindless fanboy. And just because you think TOR has underwhelming stories does also not make that so.
Also, it's breaking the 'fourth wall'. And if you play the game without expecting it to be KOTOR 3, there's no issue. I expect to see other players running around enjoying the same stuff I currently am. TOR is not a replacement for KOTOR, it's a different type of game set in the same universe with a lot of the same gameplay mechanics.
