PS3 Firmware 3.30 available now

Apr 22nd 2010 12:04AM (Joystiq)
Sony said it "preps the system" for 3D. I read that as that it will require another, although minor, update for 3D.

full quote:

"In addition, this update preps the PS3 system for some upcoming new features, including 3D stereoscopic gaming, which is coming soon to PS3, in time for the launch of Sony’s 3D BRAVIA TVs."

Rooster Teeth experiments with third-person driving in real life

Apr 7th 2010 12:26AM (Joystiq)
Yeah it's true you could change the camera but once you started going very fast the camera would always go a bit lower. I also sometimes enjoyed using the camera you described because I could see the car details better but I had to move the camera too much.

Still my point was that the camera that they used in the experiment was fixed and taking that into consideration they should have placed it higher. It's still a cool experiment though.

Rooster Teeth experiments with third-person driving in real life

Cool idea but why did they use GTA4 as a reference? GTA4's camera is horrible for driving even in the game because it's way too close to the car. I remember I had to constantly flick the camera upwards with the right analog stick in order to see what was ahead on the road. I think they should have used Gran Turismo or Forza's fixed third person camera since it's a little bit higher and you can clearly see what lies ahead on the road.

8 players locally? I thought the PS3 could only handle 7 controllers; is that via LAN?

the graphics looks amazing; I wonder if they'll release it later for the PSP, maybe as a PSP Mini title for the same price. At least there we'll have somewhat better controls.

I always thought that they had stopped development for the add-on because they were going to implement in into firefox as a built-in feature. Wasn't this gonna be part of Firefox 4.0?

Cool, but why is Haggar on the phone when the kidnapper is talking to a videocamera?
