Critter Crunch gets 'less insane' in new patch

Jan 29th 2010 10:00PM (Joystiq Playstation)
but what if I'm a bit of a masochist and want to play those very hard levels? if they were insanely hard then I really don't care...I just hope this isn't like in Bionic Commando that they changed the difficulty and made "normal" too easy and "hard" too hard; I always thought the unpatched "normal" in that game was the best way to play it.

GTA: Episodes From Liberty City on PS3, PC March 30

Jan 29th 2010 12:32AM (Joystiq)
wow it took its time but finally I'll be able to play this...come to think of it the PS3 may benefit more with the expansions releasing now, thanks to the price cut and its "momentum", than it would if they had released alongside the 360 versions.

Swag Saturday: Darksiders for the PS3 + loot galore! [update]

I would follow Sony's gadget-naming model closely and name my sword: "Gigantic and Sharp Sword made Especially for Killing in Combat"

Sony proposes increase in Blu-ray storage to 33.4 GB

Jan 5th 2010 11:06PM (Joystiq Playstation)
yeah that would be awesome...they did say blu-ray could handle 8 layers (200gb)...hopefully current players will be able to read that...if they actually do an 8 layered disc.

Sony proposes increase in Blu-ray storage to 33.4 GB

Jan 5th 2010 11:03PM (Joystiq Playstation)
"With the exception of Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII, games have rarely needed more than the 25 GB offered by a standard single-layer Blu-ray disc. The lack of demand hasn't stopped Sony and Panasonic, though."

yeah because everyone knows that Blu-Ray discs are only used for games and not movies.

TwO Brothers' Climb to the Top of the Castle on consoles

Jan 4th 2010 9:27PM (Joystiq)
this game looks very neat. The art style looks great. Although this generation didn't meet all my "next-gen" expectations I'm very grateful for all the indie or smaller games we've been able to enjoy through DLC...many of them have are on my top ten of this gen's games.

Best of the Rest: Justin's Picks of 2009

Jan 3rd 2010 12:51PM (Joystiq)
It would've been nice if Justin had told us he felt let down by KZ2 when he reviewed it: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/02/joystiq-review-killzone-2-single-player/

I've got no problem with anyone being disappointed with the game...I just like brutally honest reviews so if he felt a bit let down back then he should've mentioned it.

Final Fantasy XIII limit breaks Japanese PS3 software sales record

Dec 24th 2009 1:39PM (Joystiq)
whatever it sells on 360 it'll hurt Sony's ps3 sales. If it only manages to sell a measly 200,000 units on its launch month (which is highly unlikely) there you have 200,000 potential ps3 console sales lost because the game was available on another system.

As I said those are potential sales, of those maybe half would really consider buying a ps3 just to play FFXIII but still that's a lot of consoles. The truth is that on a business standpoint Sony really dropped the ball with its 3rd parties and each former exclusive that it lost has translated to some lost console sales. Just imagine if the PS3 had had GTA4 and DMC4 as exclusives when they were released...surely many gamers would have bought a PS3 just to play GTA4. The same thing will happen now with FF13.

Still we as gamers shouldn't really concern ourselves with this since from a gaming standpoint this is generally good for gamers. Everyone can play the latest 3rd party masterpiece and the fact that there are less 3rd party exclusives has really pushed 1st parties to develop better games than before. This is reflected better on Sony than on MS (i.e. Uncharted 2 et al) but overall everyone wins.

European PSN releases for December 22

Dec 22nd 2009 8:45PM (Joystiq Playstation)
It's an action RPG with a very cool story and is directed by the director of Final Fantasy 12. It's very very different from the typical Square RPG...it caught everyone's attention at the time for its espionage style plot and full 3d graphics (which was pretty rare for Square at the time).
