Not 'appreciating' 3DS may be sign of vision disorders, eye doctors warn

Jan 5th 2011 8:19PM (Joystiq)
@Demaar If your eyesight is actually good, and the 3D hurts, it is a sign of bad content. Most 3D content created today is not designed to be easy on your eyesight, so this "bad stereo" you are used to seeing is just the content creator not knowing the limits of the human eyes and making things arbitrarily too separated, too fast motion, or incorrectly placing things on the edges of the screen, so in turn it tends to hurts your eyes or head. But if someone is looking at "pleasing" content and it hurts, then I can say that usually it is a sign of actual vision problems. This happens a lot when we show 3D content to customers, and either they are wearing glasses or they need them, so they complain about the 3D hurting.

How would you change Apple's HDMI-equipped Mac mini?

Definitely needs a faster processor. I almost bought one until I noticed it was still only dual core (yes I have a legitimate need for more!). Also a Kensington lock would be nice.

@Fanfoot Not sure where you got 15Mbps from... IIRC Comcast still uses MPEG2 @ 38Mbps, at least for 1080i streams.

@Dale P "iPhone SDK 3.2 GM Seed is pre-release software and is considered Apple Confidential Information." ... I don't think "pre-release" and "gold master" are synonymous :/

I don't see 3.2 being official here, I'm logged into the ADC site as an iphone developer: http://yfrog.com/j3iphoneap

HTC Desire turning Japanese with SoftBank in late April

@eddieroolz I have to agree with eddieroolz here. If you ever read the forums in japan where people talk about upcoming phones etc., if it is a phone from a foreign (not Japanese) company, it usually receives little fanfare, mainly IMO due to the fact that (here it comes @therealmusashi) it does not support all the things they've come to expect from their phones, such as 1-Seg (mobile TV), Felica (e-wallet), the ability to see/do things without opening/turning on their phone etc. For example the iPhone does not have any means of communicating notifications externally, while even most android phones have at least a colored dot or such, although I think they'd prefer an external screen (as is the case with their flip phones) so they can read "email" (which is usually just their format of choice for sending text messages). You'd think these are silly things but they really take them seriously. And I think most people in Japan still prefer flip phones to the bar style, plus if you ever walk into a store that carries phones, bar phones are usually outnumbered by flips 50:1. Oh and when you walk into these stores (general electronics stores, not carrier's own shops), they actually have a _lot_ more than 50 phones, usually there are more than that just per carrier.
