The final score was 28-24 in favor of the Steelers.

Stranded launch Gears of War 2 in Toronto tunnels

You must not visit the Canadian Xbox forums...it was announced and everyone was expecting it to happen and it was by special invite only. they did this when the Original GoW launched too.

NHL 09 disc error also known as the cache time-bomb

Sep 15th 2008 10:29AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Well...I reported this bug awhile back in the EA forums and although EA has yet to come out with a fix, this only affects certain users with certain 360's/hard drives.

I had an original launch 360 hard drive. After going through 3x360's due to RROD issue, my hard drive followed me the whole time.

All 2008 EA titles would freeze up on me...Madden, NHL and occasionally Tiger. I recently upgraded my 360 to the falcon chip version which I bought 6 months ago. I kept my original hard drive to avoid having transfering all of my content since both HDD were 20GB. When I purchased the new Madden09 and found that this game kept freezing on me at the identical spot as the 08 version, I knew something wasn't right considering I had a new 360. Ahh...but my hard drive was still the same from my launch 360.

If I would clear cache, it would sometimes let me get past where it usually froze, but would freeze up again eventually and I was stuck not being able to continue playing the game.

Last month, to prove a point about this issue which I logged in the EA forums, I went out and bought a new hard drive (120GB), transferred all of my content, and all of my freezing issues went away. This is why certain users have no issues and others do. Not sure if thsi is an EA problem or MSFT problem, but I'm problem free now and that's all that matters to me!

The amazing 360 GPU shrinks to 65nm this Fall

Apr 30th 2007 11:09AM (Joystiq Xbox)
If this confirms true, then I will wait for the fall to upgrade. Seems like bad timimg for MSFT for this news to come out, but again, msft should have waited for the 65nm chip to introduce the elite.

XBLA Pac-Man world championship next week!

Having mastered all the patterns for all levels, I guess I could have a slight chance to be in top 9, but have better things to do. Scores will be ridiculous. In case anyone wonders, the patterns that used to rule the Pac Man game in the 80's also works in the 360 version.

Possible Crackdown DLC details

"You may even see a special guest online that night. Someone Irish. Maybe even fighting Irish. Check back soon for more details."

My guess is we'll see Brady Quinn, QB from the Fighting Irish. He has a profile that has been mentioned on xbox.com.

Never fear, H3 beta is not US only

Uberplum...Shadowrun is not exclusive to North America, it's exclusive to USA. Canada has been left out.

Metareview: Gears of War

Nov 7th 2006 1:57PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I was able to get a copy of GoW last night at a pre-release GoW party in Toronto. I completed the Act 1 on Co-op mode with Hardcore difficulty afterwards and let me say the whole mission did not dissapoint me. Co-op Act 1 took us little over 2 hours to complete, partner was a newb, and only once did I experience lag which lasted a split second, but was dissapointed that it actually happened.

At the pre-release party, I was able to play 4 vs 4 mode which gets pretty intense and the whole chainsaw scene seems a bit overpowering, but a great feeling once you've eliminated you're oponent with it.

Graphics are amazing, there's not much to complain on the visual side of things.

Weapons mixture is great, grenade throwing is an art itself, takes time to perfect in terms of the distance, it but eventually becomes natural.

There is a sniper gun to be found on certain levels, and it becomes a big threat if used at proper times, but like most other games, if your oponent gets too close, you can be sure your body will be shredded by the chainsaw.

A few long cut scenes, but can bypass by pressing the X button.

What really got to me is how the game actually puts you in an environment that you feel you are part of. I did not feel like I was playing a game, but was more living a moment when going through different missions and levels. It really captures you in the moment, which I never really felt in any other game out there. epic did a great job with this game.

All in all, the game did not dissapoint, I easily give the game a 9.5/10.

Enjoy!!

Good question: why doesn't the Xbox 360 have its own browser?

Oct 15th 2006 12:03PM (Joystiq)
If annything ever develops for web surfing on 360, it will most likely be for Media Center PC's. Would be easy to integrate IE into Media Center. I say this because Media Center is part of Vista, it will be an extra reason for people to adapt to Vista.

TGS: 1080p for 360! [update 1]

Sep 20th 2006 1:59PM (Joystiq Xbox)
#8 Goose...1080p can be achieved through component cables. DVI and HDMI just produce better results.
