So... to see the list of keyboard shortcuts that nobody knows about, you have to already know one of the keyboard shortcuts (and hey, it was nice of them to tell you on the shortcut dialog what key to push to bring the dialog up).

Brilliant! Truly a triumph of discoverable UI design.

The MLB and NBA things are great content wins for Apple (though not something I really care about... I'm not a sports person), and the streaming updates are nice, but I have one question for Apple:

When will Apple TV R2 get iTunes Extra support? It's the only thing keeping me from replacing my aging ATV R1 box, which lately has taken to crashing horrifically while trying to play video podcasts from certain publishers (like the Escapist).

I woud protect my phone from bad taste. Seriously, why are so many cases so ugly?

@Michael Quinn Agreed, this is nonsense. Yes, it's also nonsense that CoD4 is $50 on the Mac App Store, but the blame for that lies SQUARELY on Activision's shoulders. Apple has nothing to do with pricing of apps in either this or the iOS App Store, and never has. This is 100% about Activision gouging customers.

I wonder if this, coupled with the evident hackability of the new Apple TVs, means we could see an updated version of Boxee for the little black boxes in the future as well...

Can't believe this hasn't been mentioned by now, but as far as your Pixelmator license goes, 2.0 was ALWAYS going to cost you money... 1.x updates were the only ones promised for free by the devs. So buying the app in the App Store is essentially paying in advance for your 2.0 license, as the App Store version will be getting a free update to 2.0, which that was never the case for the version sold through Pixelmator's website.

Ultimately, I agree with the point of the piece that Pixelmator is a shining example of how to do it right, while CoverSutra is anything but. I just wish the article had been clearer about why Pixelmator's approach was ideal in the first place.

(Incidentally, as a 1.x user of YummySoup!, the temporarily discounted price of the 2.0 version of the app on the App Store got me to buy the update which I'd been holding off on... another good-will move IMO)

While Apple's not a huge fan of devs doing things like embedding secret code interpreters in their iPhone applications, I would imagine that as long as Twitter informed Apple of the existence and purpose of the hidden preference panel when they submitted it, there's no problem with it being there.

@Wazzup4567 Not sure why they listed Riven in the iPad section... It's built for iPhone, so while it runs on the iPad, it's definitely not built exclusively for it. Go forth and enjoy! :)

You're thinking of Myst III: Exile. :) And for that game, the Bink video conversion toolkit is your very bestest friend ever, because the game assets can be easily decrypted using an app called Riveal that someone in the Myst community wrote, and then converted into a more interoperable format from there (though finding what you're looking for can sometimes be a challenge ;)).
