ATOM-7xp humanoid robot is indeed Atom-powered, Windows-based

Jan 4th 2010 10:59AM (Engadget)
it looks like crap- this looks like one of those crappy robots from the 80s or at least the same designers: "hey guys we just need to get this robot to walk a little bit and talk in a robotic voice and then we're gold!"

Ten gadgets that defined the decade

Dec 30th 2009 1:20PM (Engadget)
two mistakes: Treo & XBOX 360. Not that either of them weren't milestones or deserve honorable mention but neither we even close to groundbreaking for their respective categories.

Seriously and no mention of the Wii? While I don't own one because I prefer more realistic games the Wii transformed gaming and forced Sony & Microsoft to think about motion technology.

GPS leads couple into Oregon wilderness, snow and lack of common sense keep them there 3 days

this reminds me of the episode of The Office when Michael drives his car into the lake because his GPS tells him to

Firefox 4 Windows mockup provides 5 UI hints of things to come

it's about time they fix the forward/back buttons. Ever since they implemented consolidated back drop down it's sucked.

Stem cell therapy restores British man's eyesight

still to this day I don't believe there have been one person cured or healed from embryonic stem cells. Adult stem sells FTW

Philco PC concept makes the 50s seem less lame (video)

Dec 14th 2009 11:07AM (Engadget)
I like this, but I'd like it even more if that was a Linux boot screen.

Regardless lets be honest with ourselves, we'll never see this, by time marketing tries to cheese this thing down to $500 all that metal will be replaced by metal looking plastics and the whole thing will look like a cheap creation from the 80s.

Verizon down in Midwest and California, how're things for you?

Dec 14th 2009 12:34AM (Engadget Mobile)
why do people find it necessary to have petty debates about "my carrier is better than yours"

There has been good & bad with each cellphone carrier I've had (Verizon, AT&T & T-mobile) but bottom line is I want the best value- money for the quality of service & phones period.

Why does this have to be the next religious war after "Apple vs Microsoft vs Linux"

Verizon users: "I'm better than you because I can afford the best service"
AT&T users: "I'm better than you because I can buy & use an iphone"
T-Mobile users: "I'm the quintessential moderate with low prices, decent service & the most Andriod phones"

Guitar picks crafted from old circuit boards spark binary solo revolution

Dec 7th 2009 10:49AM (Engadget)
I prefer Dunlop- these would have no give and would probably be a terrible guitar pick
