Modern Warfare 3 hides an angry bear wearing a tutu
Dec 24th 2011 6:35PM (Joystiq)LOL!
320GB hard drive coming to Xbox 360 S models for $130 this month
Oct 11th 2011 5:49PM (Joystiq)I like how ANYONE who has a specific or disagreeing opinion (no matter how detailed or legitimate the opinion or view may be) is immediately labeled a "troll" by certain people.
The only real "trolls" out there are the ones who balk and ANYONE and EVERYONE who has an opinion or view that is not in-line with their own.
So... Is that what you're trying to say?

Oct 11th 2011 2:55PM (Joystiq)"I couldn't stand to look at the watered-down textures and half-assed lighting that I had gotten so used to on PC."
Should say:
"I couldn't stand to look at the watered-down textures and half-assed lighting as compared to the higher-quality version I had gotten so used to on PC."

Oct 11th 2011 2:53PM (Joystiq)But look at the difference in absolute quality. That console (whichever one you're referring to) is capable of maybe HALF of the total geometry and texture processing power of a mid-grade gaming PC.
For example: I played the Battlefield 3 beta on PC.
Then I had a key for the Xbox version of it...and decided to check it out.
I spent 10 minutes playing it on the Xbox and couldn't take it anymore. The difference is like night and day. I couldn't stand to look at the watered-down textures and half-assed lighting that I had gotten so used to on PC.
YES. I know. "It's a beta." But that is a statement that encompasses the game on ALL platforms. When it comes to zero hour and the final game is released, that incredible margin in quality between PC and console will still exist.
That six-year-old console will still look terrible for the money you're spending on it.
I should also mention that the PC version of many games is usually cheaper. Even major titles tend to be $10 less on the PC than they are on the console - on release day.
I don't mind the console. What I mind is how much we're getting gouged to play on them when you factor in quality.

Oct 11th 2011 2:46PM (Joystiq)I'm looking down on CONSOLES and their manufacturers.
Don't be so sensitive.

Oct 11th 2011 2:45PM (Joystiq)I realize that there is exclusive content on all platforms... But I figure that's specifically created for the sole purpose of making sure that their console systems sell. The more units they sell, the more opportunity for content sales there will be for each customer. As we all know, they don't care about the console and frequently lose money on each one.
They just want to ensure that you buy games and accessories. The console itself is nothing more than a gateway to those sales.

Oct 11th 2011 2:41PM (Joystiq)Hey. I did my time on consoles. YEARS of time. Atari, Colecovision/Intellivision, Sega Master System/NES, SNES/Genesis/SATURN (loved my SNES and Saturn), N64/PSX, Gamecube/Xbox/PS2 and finally the Wii/Xbox360...and ALMOST PS3.
"Almost PS3" is simply because I have waited for the price to come down and am eventually going to pick one up for the sake of playing certain titles that are PS3 exclusive. (No. Not at all for a Blu-Ray player. I bought a REAL one.)
Is anyone seeing a pattern here? You're getting less and less for your dollar nowadays.
You look at all of the content that's available now and call me crazy? But think about it... How much are you really paying for that console that still has such inferior capability for content distribution and viewing?
By the time you're done paying for that console and the upgrades over time to keep it fully functional and running at peak efficiency... You might as well buy a system that is far more capable of producing higher-quality results. Something that is much more manageable and far less restrictive. Something that gives you access to all of the same content plus SO much more.
I priced out a good system the other day for a friend... He gave me a budget of $700-$800. I came up with an AMD-based system with 8GB RAM and two GTX 560's in SLI.
That will run Battlefield 3 in full res and all settings enabled...and look TEN TIMES better than it did on consoles.
Sure. PC's are inherently more expensive. But when you really look at the price difference?
Consoles really are becoming more and more of a rip-off.

Oct 11th 2011 2:06PM (Joystiq)This is ironic. Suddenly building a gaming PC doesn't seem to expensive compared to a console... Now does it?
Screw consoles. I'm done with them. I've gone back to where I belong: behind a keyboard and mouse and a SUPERIOR gaming experience that makes consoles look like the junk they are.
Like it or hate it, it's true.
Guy chokes a kid after being made fun of in Black Ops, we're ... upset
Oct 6th 2011 1:16PM (Joystiq)Idiot! There is no real difference between PSN and Xbox Live when it comes to all of the little asshole kids (such as yourself) that run their mouths UNNECESSARILY.
Get your facts straight and stop being such a little asshole!
