Not sure why they're not going to sell it here in the US. My fiancee loves the idea of it and the premium cost makes more sense than the Tiguan's inflated price (especially if you want leather etc). I'm guessing it wouldn't be profitable enough.
I don't think they're actually saying that customers shouldn't say "Chevy", they just don't want to use the term officially. It's the same thing with BMW. Enthusiasts can say Bimmer all day long, but you won't see it in any brochures. From a marketing and branding standpoint, a car company needs to project a certain seriousness that a nickname can undermine.
