Famitsu publisher thinks new DS will be shown at E3

Apr 11th 2008 9:46PM (Joystiq)
I would like this new DS version to have better firmware with more features. WPA/WPA-2 support for wireless is a good idea, (of course, it doesn't really matter to me since I use an IP filter that gives a big F-U to any moochers who aren't on it).

I'm probably dreaming, but DAMN wouldn't it be nice if it had a built in web-browser (which will never happen).

Oh, HERE'S an idea: for those of us geeky enough to buy a $100 dollar wireless-N router, we would like to take advantage of it so our games are lag-free. And if it's a new hardware version, I don't see the problem for giving it a better hardware chip for support of wireless a/b/g/n.

That is probably a dream too. Those things put together would make it more expensive than Nintendo would prefer.

Stargate Worlds trailer offers chance for eternal fame

Lol, my sister is a real SG addict. I think she'd swoon over this.

Doctor argues benefits of Brain Training, probably has a brain age of 63

I'm with Exolstice on this one, I think these brain games are a waste of time. I'm learning Trig and Calculus on my spare time, I think doing something like that, or just reading a few good books makes these things look like toys.

Rumorang: EA says "no plans" for Crysis on Xbox 360

Jan 4th 2008 5:31PM (Joystiq)
I'm not saying this because I'm a PC fanboy, as a matter o'fact, I like consoles more than PCs. The games are easier to set up and play. But I'm also someone who knows what I'm talking about, even the PS3 wouldn't be able to handle Crysis. You could buy a brand new Alienware system with the highest specs possible, and stick the disk in, and Cryteks rating system would give it's innards an average rating. Oh yes, I'm not joking, that's not something anyone in the mass market is going to be playing for at least 3 years, and you know why not many people are buying it in the first place? Because not many possess a monstor of a rig that can handle that kind of crap. Maybe Crytek will have better luck when PCs and Consoles are more powerful in five years (when Quad Cores and 8X00 GPUs become common place).

Even if it sold well, it wouldn't get ported to the 360, because the 360 would never have a chance of running it, no matter how ridiculously optimized and gutted the code was.

If they added a Gigabyte of RAM and replaced that weakling 360 CPU with something that had a bigger machine instruction selection, and maybe 4MB of cache, it MIGHT work, but I doubt it. Not that that's ever going to happen, maybe when the Xbox 720 comes out in 2012.

Download 'complete' DS games through Wii, NY Times reports

Jan 2nd 2008 9:16PM (Joystiq)
@ Yoshi Likes Boys

I'd probably do all that, except that'd be way to much effort. It's much easier to just mooch off someone elses work of enterpreting machine instructions on a different hardware platform (emulators). In fact, I probably wouldn't do this if it was me who had to do all the transcribing for such software, but since someone else did it, and put it up for the internet for everyone to see, I'm game.

As a matter o'fact, I've noticed a few flaws in my Paper Mario rom, the screen flashes in funky phycedelic text before shifting to a battle scene. Oh well, the mantra "you get what you pay for" holds more true than ever.

I honestly think people should care less weather they open this up for reselling game boy games. I've been playing Paper Mario, OOT, and SM64 on my computer with an emulator...and I wonder, why are people still gullible enough to pay for this? Yikes! That's 30 bucks saved right there! I'd rather break a few laws and get outdated software for free, than suck up to Nintendo's rip-off prices...

Mass Effect launch trailer elevates excitement to critical mass

Nov 11th 2007 4:08PM (Joystiq)
I don't know why, but that trailer doesn't so much excite me as it does make me think the game is cheezier than it actually is (now granted, I know it's a great game, that trailer though...). It seemed like they were aiming to make it a hollywood movie trailer, but in my opinion, it just doesn't show off the games cinematics very well...just my two cents though, ignore me if you like.

John Carmack ponders Orcs & Elves on Wii

Oct 5th 2007 7:24PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Maybe John Carmack can do some of his 3D engine magic on the Wii...if it weren't for him, 3D games might not be like what they are today. Well, maybe that last sentence isn't entirely true, we'd still reach that tech at some point, but his hours spent at keyboard did help speed along the process of 3D development...

Of course, Orcs and Elves is good enough for me, it'd be really cool to be able to do that.
