I'm a fan of the games, which I suppose added to my enjoyment of the film, but I've talked to friends who've never once played any of the games and they enjoyed the movie quite a bit.

I actually liked the movie a lot more than I expected. It got a bit silly at the end when it deviated a little too much from the plot of the game, but overall I thought it captured the atmosphere of Silent Hill really well, and the details that they did directly incorporate were spot-on.

I'm a bit upset but not surprised that most official critics are brushing it off as "just a stupid game movie", because I think it's a much better film than that. It's pretty irresponsible to say something in a venue that will convince a lot of people not to try out the movie, but that's life, I guess :/

In any case, count me as a supporter. I had a great time at the movie :)
