Oct 14th 2007 10:30PM (Joystiq)Today in the newspaper adverts they said that they were selling the PC version of OBox for 40 bucks! I haven't had the money to pick it up yet, but the prospect of saving ten bucks made me dip into my food-bank money (100 per week- I'm a fuckin poor student).
I go to one and look around the unorganized PC game section. I go ask one of the twenty people working there for an inventory lookup. After pointing out that it was boldly advertised, the clerk still asked for the SKU. After asking others and taking ten minutes, no dice. I ask them to check the other closest store there.
Spending another ten minutes waiting and forced to hear the quips and babble of employees waiting for the day to end (this was right after their manager had left, joking about firing one of the youngins), the clerk tells me that the other one didn't have the PC version either.
WTF? I told them that I was going to go buy the copy from Bestbuy across the street and come back in here demanding ten bucks in credit. (at that point I wasn't gonna come back ever again regardless). The crowd of bored employees quickly retaliated by saying:
1) Our manager just left, so we can't help you about that. My RE: Then, will you guys at least reserve a copy for me later? Them: We get deliveries by mail, so we can't promise that the price will stay the same when you get it.
2) The competitors will honor the price. My RE: Pointing out that only Circuit City had it and that no one else had the obligation of doing such.
3) You could order it online. My thoughts while thanking the clerk for her effort: I would've probably ordered it online, but the faithlessness in the security of shipping and the torture of waiting would've made it unbearable
Fuck Circuit City.
