Joystiq's new commenting system is live

Apr 5th 2012 1:28AM (Joystiq)
Not importing the old comments, that's seriously disappointing. I recognize that there are technical limitations to merging old and new systems, but that doesn't change my disappointment.

I've been one of the people who have tried to be positive and supportive of the changes the 'stiq has made over the 5 years I've been coming here. But I don't think I can do that about this change. As many others have said, the comments are half (or more) of the reason that I come here. The silly names, the trolls, the jokes, the memes, the occasionally intriguing discussion. Other sites I have seen switch over the something like LIveFyre seem to lose some of the character and personality of their comments.

Also, I agree that I don't want to sign in with my FB/Gmail/Twitter account. I keep all of those separate for a reason, because I tend to use each for different purposes. Joystiq doesn't really fit into any of them, and I like it that way.

This grumpy old man is going to go to bed and let the young whipper snappers twiiter their books while mailing the faces.

Highly doubtful.

Kinect Star Wars review: Needs Force feedback

Apr 4th 2012 2:18PM (Joystiq)
After this review, and the PA comments, it seems that the LucasArts has made a Star Wars Toy and advertised it as a game. Which may make sense to them, but is disappointing to everyone else.

The Joystiq Show - 029: Ken Levine and Tim Schafer

@beluga

I actually love the interviews, I'm always excited to hear about the nuts, bolts, business, etc., behind how games are made. But I feel that way about almost all media.

The acid-blooded devil is in the details for Aliens: Colonial Marines

Apr 4th 2012 12:32PM (Joystiq)
It's almost shocking how well Alien and Aliens were made. You can watch both of them right now, and they don't feel dated in near the same way that most movies from that era feel. Randy and Gearbox have a hard sell to prove that the are up to coming close to those movies.

That said, I think they have a good chance of pulling it off and I'm excited to see what the can do.

Amalur 'Teeth of Naros' DLC this month packs a new city, other goodies

Apr 4th 2012 10:42AM (Joystiq)
I wonder how well the expansions are going to sell for this. By the time I finished Amalur, I really felt like I was thoroughly satiated on all things Amalur. I had hit the level cap, had a set of armor and weapons that were awesome, and I could kill everything on hard with no problem. Is there a lot of demand for more in a game where there was so much already?

Rock Band Blitz announced for PSN/XBLA, can access existing Rock Band DLC

25 tracks for RB3 for probably $15, I'll probably pick it up to try it and import, if the tracks are any good.

PlayStation 3 gets Amazon Instant Video ... kinda out of nowhere

@eat it

The post office has also been very bad about scanning things as "delivered" about 3 days before they actually show up, and it's been getting worse for the last several months. I run a small business that ships a lot of First Class packages, and it's silly the number of panicked customers a month I'm having to deal with because they think their package has been delivered to the wrong place since tracking shows it was being delivered.

Snaplinks has a Chrome addon as well:

It's one of my favorite browser tools of all times, one of those little things that saves a tiny bit of work thousands of times. But I'm one of those people who get a little obsessive about finding or making tools to make repetitive tasks faster.

That might be the best game over screen in the history of games.
