Leisure Suit Larry HD seeks a Kickstart

Apr 2nd 2012 5:54PM (Joystiq)
@alioua83

Ctrl-Click, Right Click Menu, SnapLinks addon for Firefox (brilliant addon, btw). There are like a billion ways to just make that happen that don't involve Joystiq.

Illuminating Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3

I'm really jazzed for this, I thoroughly enjoyed the first two and was hoping some kind of deal could eventually be made to finish the series.

@beano311

You've got a funny definition of high profile.

Report: Hackers can pull credit card info from old Xbox 360 hard drives

@maveric101

Having destroyed a few hard drives (all consumer grade laptop and desktop drives) in my time, I've never seen a platter bend. They shatter. They are very tough, but if you can break one, it acts more like a mirror than metal.

Amazon holding 'buy two, get one free' sale

I was at Target last night and they had the same sale, though the selections and prices weren't anything special.

277 GAME stores shuttered, 40% of workforce let go, gift cards suspended

With the gift cards and pre-orders, is that even legal under UK law? My impression has been that the UK actually has some pretty rigid bankruptcy and consumer protection laws.

In recent years, even US companies that have gone under have continued to honor gift cards well after the initial bankruptcy was announced. Though suspending the rewards program actually makes sense. I mean, it's not like you're going to be a loyal customer anymore.

Amazon knocks some space bucks off Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 downloads this week

I'd love to see a discount on ME2 DLC on the 360. Playing ME3 has got me curious about playing some of the DLC from 2, but not enough to pay like $30 to pick it all up.

Rockstar head Houser nabs Capote mansion for $12.5 million

@Dance Mofo

True story, at my wife's previous job, when the economy crashed, the owner announced that there would be no raises that year. To show that he was also suffering, he shared with the staff how he was going to have to sell his private jet and would now have to fly First Class to his vacation house in the Bahamas 3 times a year, instead of going down 4 times a year in his jet.

Double Fine Adventure Kickstarter concludes with $3,335,265 amassed

@geoff0011

I hereby rename you Trollstarter.

Mojang can't use 'Scrolls' in any sequels to 'Scrolls,' lawsuit dictates

Mar 12th 2012 4:07PM (Joystiq)
@Punkrawk Bbob

So having made 5 games called, "The Elder Scrolls (Number): Something" entitles them to a trademark on Scrolls? By that logic, there would literally be thousands upon thousands of words that would be disallowed to be used as titles. That's the same logic the Edge guy was using. Fantasy, Final, Kingdom, Book, Duty, Effect, Town, City, Star, Master, Fighter, Fight, Flight, Sky, Hero, Heroes, etc.

Of course, I'm of the opinion that single, common words should not be able to be trademarked at all.
