Joystiq interview: Scribblenauts' Jeremiah Slaczka

Feb 20th 2009 7:47PM (Joystiq)
This game looks incredible. I mean really, this unique (and ambitious!) a concept just really hasn't been done to such an amazing extent as this. +1 for the DS. Looking forward to it.

Resident Evil 5 producer wants more Evil on Wii

Feb 15th 2009 3:48PM (Joystiq)
Sheppy, you are pretty off-base. Capcom's expectations for RE4 Wii were around 400K. The game has sold over 1.5 _million_ units. That's called far exceeding expectations. Furthermore, I honestly can't believe you expected it to sell more than the PS2 game...the Wii game is an updated port of a game that had already been bought by millions of people on the GCN, PS2, and PC. It's _extremely_ impressive that it sold as strongly as it did. Furthermore, Umbrella Chronicles also performed well, selling in excess of one million copies. That's very good for a light-gun spin-off.

Second of all, how is Zach and Wiki comparable to this situation? As Roto said, Zach and Wiki was a brand new IP with no brand recognition and no ad support. The Resident Evil series is completely different.

Baby J Penn, you clearly haven't played RE4 Wii edition. It's nothing small. IR makes a humongous difference. Humongous. You wouldn't believe how much it enhances the game. Play RE4 with the Wii, and you'll never want to go back.

Rumor: DS Lite Onyx gets discontinued

I'm very happy with my Black DS lite.

The mic broke -- ironically enough, I think it was my turtle beach headset that shorted it out...

NYCC 09: The Conduit revisited; hands on a 'new' game

Feb 8th 2009 1:50PM (Joystiq)
@ Spizza

Dido. If you (this Joystiq poster) would honestly prefer dealing with dual analog over well tuned Wiimote controls, then I really don't care too much what you have to say about The Conduit.

No offense, but its like asking someone who despises football to write a review about this year's Superbowl. If you can't grasp what the Wii has to offer in terms of FPS control, then you are simply not going to be able to appreciate a major facet of what sets the Conduit apart from other FPS out there.

This coming from someone who has seen both sides of the fence -- dual analog control, and the wonders of well refined Wiimote shooting (ala Medal of Honor Heroes 2).

Iwata: Total DS install base could reach 152.2 million units

Jan 31st 2009 1:48PM (Joystiq)
Don't make epic fail comments when you don't even know how many units the PS2 has sold.

150 million units sold would be an epic success for the DS -- the most sales for any video game system ever (yes, more than the PS2). Your ignorance = epic fail.

Hardware shortages blamed for Wii's underwhelming December

Jan 18th 2009 8:06PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
When you sell 2 million units, chances are you dry up stock pretty quickly. So it doesn't shock me that there were shortages.

Baltimore mayor allegedly purchased consoles with gift cards for the needy

Jan 10th 2009 3:16PM (Joystiq)
Isn't a Wal*Mart or Kroger card more fitting for families in need than a Best Buy card? "Sorry kids, we don't have a Christmas dinner, but hey, I bought you a PlayStation." ...Just an observation.

Regardless, this is still terrible.

Undead Knights developer loves the PSP, made for real gamers

Jan 9th 2009 9:01PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Just because little girls buy imagine whatever doesn't make the DS a little girls system exclusively. Me commenting that it doesn't make sense for him to say the DS doesn't have an audience for hardcore games does not make me a fanboy.

I'll fully admit I prefer the DS though - that's why I'm commenting on what this guy has to say about the DS. I don't think he's right. I hardly deserve to be called a fanboy for this.

Undead Knights developer loves the PSP, made for real gamers

I don't understand how he can say there isn't a hardcore audience on the DS. PSP software sales are kind of pitiful, where as the DS hardcore games (of high quality) generally sell just fine.

I mean, if he wants to use the PSP because it has better hardware or if he just likes the system, then fair enough. The PSP's graphical abilities far outclass the DS, and for a tech heavy project like this seems, it might even be a necessity. But it just seems like he's taking the opportunity to make a cheap -- baseless -- jab.
