Entering the raiding scene (or) How the Elune realm hates me

Aug 22nd 2007 6:57AM (WoW)
Totally OT, but learning you played on the Elune server made my day. I suppose that has something to do with the fact that I really enjoy your posts.
I'd been wondering how raids were impacted by the constant server crashes - walking the instance with impunity sounds like fun!

Clueless man plays WoW, writes about it for the media

Nov 16th 2006 5:19AM (WoW)
Out of touch? There is no way could have been written by someone who didn't know anything about WoW.

It might not be your cup of tea (just like hearing all about Gothic Bunnies isn't mine) but I don't think that's a reason to call that guy clueless and uninformed. Especially since it's quite obvious that his culture extends way beyond gaming.

Very casual player returns to WoW

Signaflow : very insightful comment. By far one of the best comments I've ever read on this blog.
And that's not only because I wholeheartedly agree with it.

British could accidentally make Taurens [update 1]

Wow, and I thought gamers would have a sense of humor. Guess that's why it's considered a sports nowadays - bunch of pretentious pricks taking themselves way too seriously.

Anyway... I digress. Thank you for the post, I found it entertaining. :)

Greatly extended weekly maintenance for some realms

Sep 26th 2006 6:47AM (WoW)
Downtime exceeeding 24 hours being credited is not accurate. My server was down for 36 hours and a few other random days here and there. I haven't been credited anything. (I checked). Since they've started working on my server, I've been experiencing a mix of random disconnects and crazy lag. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we improve server perfomance? LIKE HELL. On top of that, it's been having extended maintenance every single week since then. Not that any of the patches seem to have fixed anything.

That leaves me with the impression that Blizzard is quite happy to take my money and my playtime to upgrade their servers so that they can sell me their expansion later (and take even more of my money). Does that make me happy? No. that makes me pretty darn angry actually. Not that the servers are off - I can survive not playing for a few days - but that they're off with NO warning (a few hours before does not qualify) and NO compensation. I'm not going to complain on the forums for hours on end. I might send in an email to Blizzard. Most probably, I'll completely lose patience and stop playing (and paying), because it's not that fun anymore, and I don't like being taken for an idiot.

And that, is bad business.

Reasons for fishing

Sep 25th 2006 8:39AM (WoW)
I fish because it's fun and relaxing. Simple as that.

Also, my tailor has been loving the bolts of silk/mageweave/runecloth, and the leather, from rings and wreckages.

GuildWatch: Twenty-four Men on a Dead Dragon's Chest

Order of the Chicken... there's one guild called such on the Elune server, I believe.

Rehab Clinic Open for Gaming Addicts

Jun 16th 2006 7:44AM (WoW)
You may be making fun of game addiction, but when you start hearing about a few people dying from it, it stops being funny. I would tend to think it's a real disease if it kills.

Game addiction is not about not being able to stop trying to get your character to the next level, but about not being able to stop playing long enough to meet your basic vital needs. Sadly, even not reading video games news that reguarly, I know there's been several deaths linked to gaming addiction - and they are tragic. A little respect wouldn't be out of place here.

Breakfast Topic: Shifting professions

May 4th 2006 8:56AM (WoW)
The professions are one of my favorite things in WoW. I find I create several characters, and level them up, just so I can enjoy several professions at once. But it's true that gathering seems to be more profitable than crafting... but crafting's way more fun :)
