'The Inferno' for iPhone shows how to adapt Dante's Inferno {Joystiq}
Dec 29th 2009 7:04PM More faithful, have you guys even READ the poem you're ranting about Visceral being stupid with. There is a layer in which fortune tellers punishment for divining their own future was that their heads were on backwards so they couldn't see where they were going. Think about this for a second. This is your high art? This is the sacred ground Visceral trepassed upon? This is like what bad D&D campaigns and Futurama concepts of Satan are made of.
It's stupid, it's silly, and the only reason people hold it up on a pedestal is because your education teaches you to revere it. That's cute for Dr. Suess but nobody is bitching about how inaccurate Cat in the Hat the game was compared to the fucking "novel" are they? Visceral Games needs about as much growing up as the editors in this lame little battle you guys have going on.
Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce footage murderously arrives online {Joystiq}
Dec 17th 2009 9:58PM tmac, if you played this on PSP, really, you would know you were and idiot and a liar about your claim. No Dynasty Warriors game is as aerial focused as this version nor does any have the village hub, leveling system to this extent, crafting, I could go on but really you'd claim all of that was in Dynasty Warriors 6. Which it wasn't...
Divnich: Wii can't help but win this generation {Joystiq}
Dec 7th 2009 8:03PM If Nintendo keeps up their "fuck the third parties" behavior they pioneered in the NES and SNES days which lead to the mass exodus of developers to Playstation and keeps up through to this day. Sure Nintendo would host one hell of a party but like the DS and Wii, they'll likely be the only ones attending.
Xbox Live moderators getting serious about Modern Warfare 2's Javelin glitch {Joystiq}
Dec 3rd 2009 1:26PM You know, I feel sorry for the people who fall victim to this BUT it's a goddam glitch. If someone is exploiting it, maybe it shouldn't have been there? I mean I remember when I accidently found an exploit in World of Warcraft that duplicated items and so I accident duplicated a full iron bar stack. I reported the exploit to Blizzard and know what they did? They thanked me, let me keep the iron stack, and patched it out within a week.
This? This seems like they're punishing their fanbase for finding shit wrong with their game. Yes it's an exploit but considering the steps, it is something that COULD be done accidently. I just got banned because your game is broken?!? FUCK YOU.
Japanese retailer names underperforming games of 2009 {Joystiq}
Dec 3rd 2009 7:58AM For the most part, Japan is still a bit hesitant to embrace online gaming. Monster Hunter was a success because of commute times, commonality of play possibilities, and the fact that it was portable. Online gaming is still rather niche of a concept. Which is why most Japanese companies just can't puzzle out online services. See: PS3 and Wii. PS3 is catching up but Nintendo is STILL scratching their head.
Japanese retailer names underperforming games of 2009 {Joystiq}
Dec 3rd 2009 7:54AM Their marketing team operated in FUCKING JAPAN you twip. Until it's confirmed for US release, which hasn't happened yet, you have to REALLY be following the Japan Scene to hear about thsi one. Provided you lived under a rock for the week's worth of teaser site reveals.
Patent details Xbox 360 hint system {Joystiq}
Nov 26th 2009 10:26AM For someone pointing out how this is something unique to xbox, it sounds an awful lot like the tips and online functionality of Demon's Souls.
Face it, MS saw a good thing and like the patent trolls they are (to be fair, all companies exploit the overworked and undereducated patent office), expanded it a bit to make it all encompassing so that they officially now have a 14 year lock on Demon's Souls 2. It's not creative, shouldn't be supportive, and frankly if From Software didn't patent a system like this because they felt it SHOULDN'T be patentable, Microsoft sure as fuck shouldn't be patenting prior art.
ModNation Racers races back into view with new trailer {Joystiq}
Nov 20th 2009 9:34PM Surpassing Mario Kart 64 or DS might be hard as hell to accomplish, agreed. But Double Dash and Wii set the bar pretty low. Sadly, even with a bar set so low, most kart racers can't even get over that hump. But at least if you don't like the pack-in levels, you can hunt up custom ones online. And even if this game is "as good as" Kart Wii, that's still better that 99% of the kart racers (CTR on PSX still sits pretty high).
Marvelous lost money on most of its Wii releases {Joystiq}
Nov 19th 2009 1:25PM guttertalk, that's Ignition. Ignition is relatively new. Doesn't have the infastructure and already has several underperforming titles to their credits. When a publisher cannot move titles like King of Fighters XII or Muramasa, that stops the buyers from stocking further titles from Ignition. And before you know it, you're in the same boat as all PSP owners. Stores won't stock a library and as such, you're tossed to the wilds of Amazon, friend to the niche gamer.
But that has fuck all to do with Marvelous. Different region, different publisher. So your pointing out that you had to go to five different stores to find a Japanese release in America tells me one of two things. Either you're completely ignorant to the fact that most stores don't stock import games or you didn't read the fucking article. Both cases reflect poorly on you.
Marvelous lost money on most of its Wii releases {Joystiq}
Nov 19th 2009 1:20PM But the arguement is easily countered by saying without the Day 1 purchases, the game doesn't perform and thus the studio suffers. And likewise, any followups to a game you snagged for $10 used two years later become highly unlikely.
There is something to be said about bargain hunting. For the love of christ, do it. It's great for the consumers. Just keep in mind, for every Day 1 Activision purchase you make, Atlus suffers.
