Yu Suzuki: 'I think Sega's going to let me' make Shenmue 3

@ryamkajr

I think I speak for the vast majority of gamers when I say that I don't want Ryamkajr speaking for the vast majority of us.

Obsidian working on XBLA title for Q1 2012 (and some other things)

I'll give you an example here... I don't think that "Heavy Rain" could be said to be "focused on fun." That sort of game is an example of being focused on delivering a story and an emotional experience. You can derive great enjoyment and even meaning from it, but that isn't quite the same as "fun."

Gosh, I'm sure glad that you posted this three separate times. That means I got to triple my downvoting pleasure.

Play Magazine rounds up haunting, embarrassing dev quotes

Mar 1st 2011 9:20AM (Joystiq)
The Force Unleashed 2... There was an awful lot of fluffing going on with that game, which turned out to be such a letdown. What would honest quotes have been like?

"Our directive is to make the game short, repetitive, and incoherent. I think you're going to be impressed by how thoroughly we've met all three of those goals."

"We want to see how low we can set the bar for a Star Wars game and still get it to sell."

"Since we at LucasArts have a tendency to fire half the team after the completion of every game, morale is really low. You can expect to see that reflected in the game experience."

>sigh<

New Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim footage is better than we deserve

Well, for one thing, the mods give you a chance to fix some of the more glaring design flaws in Oblivion. For example, once you've had to scroll through your entire sprawling collection of keys for the hundredth time or so, you really appreciate that there is a mod that fixes this aspect of the inventory system. Stuff like that.

@xHotPotatox

Yeah, I saw that too. That's like the evil version of Cupid that only comes out after you've downed a few pints of beer, and even lawn gnomes start to look hot to you. Chilling.

Bethesda proves it's really serious about Skyrim baby name contest

Er... "American" names are just as diverse. To prove the point, all three of those names came from Americans. As in citizens of the U.S. An American name can be pretty much anything.

"Dovahkiin," however, sounds suspiciously like the usual mish-mash of syllables that so many fantasy writers throw together when they're naming the places and people of their fictional worlds.

@Dizazter

Actually, I share a first name with the lead character in that game. Nobody's offered me a free copy, though.

@Arsenic13

Um... "sounds European?" You do realize that Europe is a rather diverse continent, don't you? For example, the names Smith, Dubois, and Puholovich all "sound European" in their own way.

I think anyone who's tempted by this ought to hold off on having kids. It's a good sign that you're not ready.

Stay classy, Bethesda.
