Otherwise, 3DS is the new Virtual Boy...IF this was confirmed to be true and released in less than year, I wouldn't be concerned if this happened after 4 or 5 years of 3DS life.

There is no doubt that resistive edges out capacitive when it comes to precision, but capacitive is currently evolving. It is not going to be much surprise if the next hardware revision will feature an upgraded capacitive touchscreen.

No I am not taking a jab at Nintendo, and I am not worried about 3DS, I am more worried about Wii U controllers, those things look expensive and next accessory upgrade (similar to Wii mote, motion plus upgrade) is gonna be daunting, if Nintendo opted for capacitive screen.

You probably right. From the link, it seems it is suited portable devices (NGP, Xperia Play, smartphones)

Interesting technology, but wouldn't this need PS Eye to be upgraded first? Did they use PS Eye or another cam for the demonstration?
