The CTS V6. Isn't that also the engine that is in the Saturn Aura XR. According to Wikipedia it is. If it is the engine, I have got to say it is a pretty amazing piece of machinery in a car. Mated with the new Hydra-Matic 6T70 that GM just developed it smokes tires without even trying to when accelerate. You have to have REALLY fine pedal control not to overpower a launch.
easy, financial backing from Japan. All of the Japanese car companies get massive incentives from the Japanese government the US companies could only dream about, while they go after the US for doing the same thing.
Japanese companies get huge amounts of money from the Japanese government. Nintendo, Sony, all have government funding of some sort.
your a idiot. Saturn caused absolutely NO laps in any GM development as they owned their own in house development before GM reincorporated them. If GM struggled through the 90's and early 2000's it was their OWN FAULT and had NOTHING to do with Saturn as they shared nothing in common.
Saturn was a entity in it of it's self. Own people, own dealers, own development team, and up till the reincorporation its own platforms with NOTHING involved with GM. They didnt even have a union contract with its workers.
No Chevy caused their laps in development themselves. They where content to beat their platforms into the ground and it showed. If Saturn caused any issues with GM it was when GM decided to declare the then profitable Saturn a failure and reincorporate them and toss their platforms for GM derived cars. But even at that Chevy owes debt to Saturn. The Cobalt and current gen Malibu are both derived from Saturn development on the Ion and Aura. The Malibu shares more with the Aura than the G6, and the Cobalt was built taking cues from what NOT to do with the Ion since the Ion was a huge complaint from longtime Saturn fans and was not the S car replacement it should have been
Sofa, try the other way around with the Malibu. The Aura is what the new Malibu is based on, not the other way around.
And this situation only happened thanks to GM bringing Saturn into the fold. When Saturn was a independent subsidiary of GM they where the only brand in the black while the rest lost money. It was only after GM decided to flog the brand to support the others that GM screwed them up.
Tim how can you have overlap with a car thats BASED on the Aura.
The new Malibu is a rebadged Aura, which is a upscaled G6, not the other way around. And having test driven the Aura and the Malibu I can tell you flat out the Aura is the better of the two and the Mal is a typical Chevy low end piece of shit, especially compared to the XR version which is a HOT car and neither Pontiac nor Chevy has any version of theirs that comes close
If your going to do anything, dump all of Pontiac's rebadges (which is basically everything but the G8), move the whole Saturn line over to it and keep the G8. Saturn is the only brand that GM has that for the most part DOESNT look like GM, which honestly style wise has been stale as hell for years and years now. Not to mention that up till the recent vehicles, saturn has trumped Pontiac with performance cars, the G8 being the only car of note from Pontiac in years while Saturn has had the whole redline performance line.
Lets also not forget how freaking stupid it would be for GM to can saturn after investing millions in a redesigned for US Astra for 2010.
Seriously people need to stop having this love affair with the Chevy because of the Corvette and the coming Camaro. Other than those two cars NOTHING they put out is any good. The worst car I have ever owned since I started driving was a brand new Cobalt. Brand new the piece of shit was falling apart. If it wasn't for Saturn I'd have gone to Honda years ago because GMs other lines not counting the luxury brands are garbage.
You got Saturn and Pontiac mixed up. If GM moved the G8 to Saturn (with a new name and more Saturnlike styling) they could realistically kill Pontiac and keep a brand with cars that are mostly dissimilar to other brands under their belt.
Have Vaux/Opal do the design work and they can keep them as well and have them as a true "world brand" which they tried to do with Saturn before, but didnt sell well with the plastic models in Japan.
Right not Pontiac has nothing but Chevy rebrands and one Toyota one. The G8 is the ONLY car they have that has little in common with the other brands. The Solstice WAS another, but the Sky is actually better IMHO and neither are lasting much longer now that they killed the replacement.
Actually its the other way around Frank. Audio has been moving toward USB2 for ages now and the market never materialized for Firewire on the PC side. The other factor is USB2 devices are just cheaper.
As much as I loved firewire (and I do target disk mode for years was my way to image iMacs in my school district before we rolled out a server for imaging) the writing was on the wall for Firewire for a while. It sucks, because firewire IS better than USB2 even in its 400 version, but just way too many consumer grade products atm are coming out USB2 to make it matter.
If its such a killer for people either get a MBP, or just deal with your older model.
yeah Japanese cars to this day have very poor implementation of a intermittent wiper. That was the #1 complaint of my wife over her FIT after moving from a Cavalier, that the wiper absolutely sucked and I agreed. It is painful to use the car in a light mist since you either have to put up with wiper damaging screeching, or keep hitting the wiper occasionally.
Everyone was, but they failed. His was the first out of the gate, patented, and which actually worked. What happened was he then shopped it around and rather than pay the guy the money to use them, they stole his blueprints and made it anyway.
His patented system was used, meaning it doesnt matter if Ford "came up with it later" on their own, he already had patented it and they now owed him. The fact that they only came up with the idea AFTER he tried to sell it to them just puts the nail in the coffin of they stole it and figured he wasnt smart enough to go after them and would just give up.
