After Burner Climax takes off April 21 on XBLA; April 22 on PSN

I'm confused--isn't this already available on PSN for the PSP, at $15?

New Dragon Age Awakening character needs to go eat a sandwich or something

In case anyone was interested, the Christian Bale reference is to the movie "The Machinist" that he starved himself for. That was an awesome movie, in my opinion, and seeing an actor go to that extreme for his character is really impressive.

Justice in Dragon Age looks rather emaciated, but I'll suspend my disbelief and assume he can wear armor, hold a shield, and wield a mace because of...magic? Yeah, I'll go with that.

PSN inaccessible, Trophy-supporting games unplayable on non-Slim PS3s [update 4]

Mar 1st 2010 1:23AM (Joystiq)
I noticed everyone saying it seems to be related somehow to the date. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the Leap Year? It seems more than a coincidence that this is all happening on the last day of February. Maybe someone has already mentioned this, but I'm not reading through 543 posts to find out.

My guess: it's some kind of bug with the leap year. Maybe the PS3 is looking for February 29, can't find it, and is unable to compute?

Velanna joins the growing Dragon Age Awakening cast

Is it just me, or do the graphics look half-way decent this time? Is there some info about them making a graphical improvement in the expansion?

Hustle Kings bounces onto PSN this week for $10

Jan 25th 2010 3:48PM (Joystiq Playstation)
I'm definitely getting this. I just hope there is some kind of tutorial or training mode, because I certainly can't pull off a lot of the moves seen in that video, though I'd very much like to learn how. This should hold me over until I've saved up enough for a real table.

Also, I heard that this is going to be one of the games that will later be patched to support the new motion control device. I thought they were going to wait on releasing it until the device was released, but with the recent announcement that the controller won't be out until the fall, I'm glad they went ahead with Hustle Kings.

Calling All Cars servers calling it quits in January

Oct 19th 2009 2:01PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Hmm, I played this with my daughter a few minutes the other day. You can play it offline with up to 4 players, so it doesn't totally kill the game that the servers are going down. I'm surprised they were up this long!

What annoys me is games that have trophies you can only get online, but nobody ever plays those games online. Age of Booty, Puzzle Quest Galactrix, etc. I think they should get rid of those online requirements. At least Uncharted 2 only has two online trophies, and they just require that you try out the multiplayer game and the co-op game. More developers should follow this example, in my opinion.

Former XBLA manager gives tips on creating downloadable games

Even though I'm not in the game-developing business, he had some great points that I'm certainly going to explore for my music sales online.

A lot of his advice applies cross-industry.

Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman 2! Time to Tighten Up Security! -- the trailer

Oct 4th 2009 1:16AM (Joystiq Playstation)
If you hurry, it still might be available on PSN on sale for $10. I bought it this last Thursday, and am really enjoying it, but it is tricky! There is a lot to it.

Under Siege bumped to Spring 2010, adds motion controller support

Sep 24th 2009 2:17PM (Joystiq Playstation)
I'll definitely check this out when it's released. I like the idea of trying motion control in an RTS. Red Alert on PS3 was good, but I think motion control will be even quicker and easier as an interface.

NPD planning to track sales of downloadable games

Sep 21st 2009 6:49PM (Joystiq)
Yes, they are definitely numbered, as I was saying, but they have at least a few more years with their current business model. These business analysts are doomsaying too soon.
