Has anyone else had similar experiences with this man? I've heard people call him pretentious before, and I'd like to not believe it, but it's a little challenging when your only experience seems to reinforce it.

Joyswag: Win a copy of BioShock, get it overnighted (Part 1)
Aug 16th 2007 9:19PM (Joystiq)I haven't felt this way about a game since the 2D days. Everything since feels like it's just been testing the waters, seeing how many polygons and enemies we can fit on screen or what art we can convey with how little power. Resident Evil 4 almost had this, but it's realism defeated it's timelessness, and Windwaker took all it's efforts to make a timeless art style, but the gameplay fell short. Bioshock has proven to me that those efforts were not in vain, and that in the end, it all added up to create what, it my eye, appears to be the perfect 3d game. Fingers crossed, I think it's only the beginning, the beginning of a new era in 3D gaming.
Fanswag: Win a copy of BioShock, get it overnighted (Part 1) [We have a winner]
Aug 16th 2007 9:09PM (Joystiq Xbox)"Hey look, another platform! Let's screw everyone who bought the original and make a new, better version for these people on this other console over here!"
In about a year, we're all going to have the version of Bioshock that sucks. PS3 owners, meanwhile, will be getting a different version of the game with enhanced texture art (due to larger disk space) and another 5 to 10 hours of gameplay, maybe even another ending. Sucks, doesn't it? I mean, you could wait a year while everyone else plays it, and then you'd get all kinds of spoilers while you tried to savor your innocence until the superior version came out, or you could buy it now and know that you're getting the inferior version.
3rd party exclusives suck. They always have, and they always will. Either you get the game early and you know it's worse, or you wait until later and parts of the game get spoiled for you. I don't care how fun it is, you're always going to get that sinking feeling that you bought the wrong one: that you should have bought the original, or that you should have waited for the other.
And the worst part is: that regret never goes away. It's a choice you make that will always influence your thoughts on said game. It just sucks... there's really nothing more to it than that.
Bioshock might be a fun game, it's looking really hot actually... but you just know it's going to happen, it's really inevitable and... it just sucks that it's going to happen, and there's nothing you can do about it.
