Has anyone purchased a gateway since they shifted from made-to-order? The nerd in me is contemptuous, but I have to admit they've put out some thoughtful, classy designs, decently spec'ed, at dandy prices. How's the build quality/reliability/etc?

Scorpio Black? They seriously named it Scorpio Black? It's a bloody hard drive, the most mundane component after the floppy disk, not a member of The Revolution.

I'll park it right above my 6-in-1 media reader, "Gemini Magenta".

I'm currently in my second year of teaching, through Teach for America, in an urban, low income school district. I don't make a habit of extending thanks to anonymous internet entities, but I want to thank engadget from the absolute bottom of my heart for bringing these proposals to readers' attention. Presented daily with the appalling lack of resources available to our underprivileged children, it does my battered heart good to see an organization providing access and experience to students who, were it not for readers' generosity, would unquestionably go without. Big ups.

I like it. Blomkamp has an impressive ability to ground the fantastic - see his South African Alien Apartheid short on youtube.

But I agree with the "It doesn't feel like Halo" party. Halo has a very cinematic feel, and this short certainly doesn't feel cinematic.

Go back and watch again, and you'll realize that the problem is the sky - and the lighting on the whole. The sky is too mundane. They could have kept the "embedded" cinematography, and the slightly clunky art design, if they just would have changed the mood of the lighting and the look of the sky.
