Current generation BMW M3 to be last naturally aspirated M car

Apr 4th 2011 6:06PM (Autoblog)
End of an era... bummer, I'll always favor NA over forced-induction, even if it produces less power. I'm a sucker for "right now" throttle response and lots of revs :s

Confirmed: BMW i3 to be RWD, mid-"engine"

Cool, BMW using rear drive (and mid-engined no less) in even their dorkiest applications is a good sign for future models.

Other than feeling some of those ponies through a gear or two at a time, that didn't look like much of a sampling to me... mid-corner pulling well over 1g is where it would blow minds.

Isle of Man considering TT World Series

Mar 20th 2011 11:56AM (Autoblog)
Ehh... I don't see this as a great idea. It's borderline-amazing the Manx TT has kept going this long after some terrible tragedies over the (every?) years. It's exhilarating to watch, but there's plenty of room for modern roadracing to grow on FIM-sanctioned tracks without the risk of instant death on nearly every portion of the course (like the Isle of Man).

Dungeon Hunter: Alliance hacks and slashes onto PSN this April

I'm playing Dungeon Hunter II on my iPhone right now, and I gotta say I'm pretty amazed at what they can cram into such a device; sprawling quest with side missions, full leveling system, tons of items/weapons, good sound and visuals, multiplayer... we're talking about my phone here.

Opinion: Is BMW becoming too soft?

@ zamafir

Not sure why you spun my comment into a weight weenie argument, but I was simply using the new Elise as an example of a manufacturer chasing new customers that may want posh over raw track capability. Actually you kinda reinforced my point, ALL the manufacturers want to sell as many car as they can. I doubt Lotus cares who's driving their cars, but I'm sure they'd prefer 10,000 sixty year-old's driving Elise's around LA to 1,000 30-somethings doing track days.

Regarding your point about the big companies dropping weight from their cars, I hear a lot of TALK about reducing substantial kilos from any given model, but can you actually point to any substantial example of that? Yes, I know there are some really light prototypes out there from Audi and the like, but the vast majority of cars are getting fatter and heavier... and I'll be really surprised if that changes much.
