Remember that RAID-0 is *more* failure-prone than a single drive, since losing either drive in the case will cause you to lose data across both drives. Of course, by the time you buy two of them you could probably about buy a Synology unit and a bunch of 2TB drives.
All of this said - it's hard to argue with the price if you just need a huge chunk of storage.

2) Isn't ".loginhook" reserved by the window manager? Wouldn't it make more sense to just drop a shell script into /usr/local/bin? That way you also don't have to worry about path differences between users.

*IF* they pull it, bring out the pitchforks at that time. In the meantime, stop with the FUD.
