Points for the Chef Excellence avatar, but I'd be interested in how long term your testing was there. A tank or two isn't the same thing as running on a fuel a car isn't designed for for 5 years.

@High Climber It's not a requirement though, it's just what's legal to sell. It doesn't mean the manufactures have to allow its use in any given vehicle. And the problem is the EPA says it can be used in cars as old as 2001 models. Seriously, have they evaluated every model of car and power train sold since then to know it won't cause damage or are they just assuming it's okay?

Incredibly high import tariff on foreign made cars and they're hugely loyal to the Japanese automakers. It doesn't help that many Japanese people don't care much for Americans either.

It's up to manufacturers to what fuel can be used in a car, not the EPA.

Corn isn't fuel or sugar, stop trying to make it everything.

That's Japanese made parts. Brazilians moved to Japan en-mass a few years ago because many actually have some Japanese in their blood lines, so they could move there and gain citizenship easily. Kind of like Mexicans coming to the US, they took a lot of undesirable jobs, such as factory work. This displaced a lot of native Japanese and there were crime issues, so they shipped the Brazilians back home.

"Domestic content" for the most part means parts that are made in Japan and put into other sub-assemblies in the US before they're built into the final vehicle. I know, I work for a Toyota supplier. Also, most of their factories workers are Japanese natives. They had a mess of Brazilians for a while, but they sent them all back to Brazil.

It's more than a handful of other makers...pretty much everyone has a presence in the Detroit area. It really confuses me why Detroit wasn't part of the initial roll-out, as this metro area is larger than most of the other ones on the list.
