Mercury News: PS3? Wait and see

Nov 13th 2006 10:41PM (Joystiq)
I guess I'm the only one here who would kill for a copy of Trauma Center?

I had the DS version and LOVED it (the sense of accomplishment when I beat the unlocked seven sins = unsurpassable) so I'm very prejudiced, but I can't pass this game up.

(Am still buying Zelda & Rabbids, though.)

Japanese hardware sales, 9 October - 15 October: stupidest ever edition

Ohh, that came too naturally. Scared.

School bans tag, other recess games

Oct 18th 2006 4:25PM (Joystiq)
This is publicized now?

I guess this must be only my elementary school, but when I attended a decade ago, tag was banned. Anything where you chased was banned, unless it was an in-class thing.. but never tag. We'd get in big trouble if we got caught, too.

Anyway, it had been banned at my school the entire time I was there (six years), and when my sisters were there, so we're talking twenty years that tag has been banned at my elementary school.

I must say, it made bullying a lot harder. ^_^

Joystiq poll: Do you replay completed games?

Oct 6th 2006 2:27PM (Joystiq)
Games that I really, really love and want to do better the next time over, or just want to complete again. I've definitely played Pikmin II five times, beating it in less days each time (I beat it without losing any pikmin the last time! .. too bad you don't get anything).

You couldn't catch me DEAD playing through all of Super Mario Sunshine again. Freaking blue coins.

Wii! Pringles giveaway

Sep 27th 2006 10:38PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I entered. And I'm just enough of a bad person that I'm thinking of entering every day (the rules say you can), even though that increases my chance about : that much. (That was representative out of 1,808,392,982 similar dots.)

[I wonder how much the Wii will go for on ebay.]

Rational gamers choose subsidized hardware, all else equal [update 2]

Sep 15th 2006 4:14AM (Joystiq)
Wow, Penny-Arcade actually chose to criticize this editorial in their news column today.

http://www.penny-arcade.com/2006/09/15

Also, guy who wrote the article? Cole? Normally I wouldn't have pinned you for this, given that it IS the internet, but you did try to act like an esoteric ass. (Latin?)

Subsidy, according to Webster: "a grant by a government to a private person or company to assist an enterprise deemed advantageous to the public."

For example, I imagine that Ford will need something like this soon. On topic, as far as I know, Sony and MS are not governments, or government agencies, nor are consumers companies. So. Stop using words you clearly don't know how to use.

Also, I must've missed the press releases from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft that announced their turning into non-profit agencies. How kind of them.

Why is the games industry failing women?

Aug 22nd 2006 1:27AM (Joystiq)
"I can tell u right up front women wont put down 400 dollars or more on a console."

You need more female friends. Wait, I rephrase: you need female friends, period. Because I am certainly not the only female that I know of that's planning on dishing out about $400 for the Wii (w/ controllers and games). I didn't quote your "complexity of pacman" comment as it was a little too asinine, but Civilization (I) was my favorite game when I was eight, and I was addicted to Civilization II for years. So screw you.

Btw, everyone on this board who refers to females as one gigantic "we"? All females do not like the same games.

Nevertheless, as someone noted above, I have to agree: I hate playing as female characters in a ton of games because they look ridiculous. (Taki's nipples in Soul Calibur II looked like they could stab someone in the eye.)

Anyway, where was this survey conducted? I hate gaming stores like EBGames and whatnot. People there actually have the nerve to ask me if I'm lost, or what game did I want to pick up for my boyfriend, etc. So I tend to buy mine at "non-gaming" stores like Target or BestBuy. Also, a lot of my female gamer friends have their brothers / boyfriends buy their games for them.

To go against some cliches here, I don't always need a story or cuteness (though they can go a long way); as long as it's fun, it's good to go. I loved Pikmin II, probably one of my all-time favorite games, and part of it was how adorable it was, but mostly how great the controls were, and how much fun it was to send forth my little army and rampage. Alternately, I hated Kingdom Hearts - hated the camera, hated the characters, and I thought the game had too *much* story. So there you go.

And Sylde? Girls that play Sims? You've NEVER been stuck at a party with fifteen (I kid you not) girls crowded around one computer, playing the Sims, all while discussing the evil things they had done to their own characters at home. And why were we there? We had a swim meet. Go figure.

NY Times: Game stigma is industry's fault

Aug 15th 2006 12:59PM (Joystiq)
"When are you going to stop spending your money on Nintendo and grow up, hm?"

I've been getting that since I was ten. Ten! My god, that's the target age *to* play video games. And now that I'm twenty, it's only gotten worse.

It doesn't help that I'm a girl. God, people make the most smart-ass comments, that because I (gasp!) play video games, I *of course* must have the personality of a ten year old. They oddly expect that as an adult woman I should go off and.. find something better to do with my time. Like men. That .. if I'm playing video games, this will scare off the guys.

Oddly enough, I've always felt that men and video games can come to a happy blend. Am I wrong?

Trauma Center available again

Jul 27th 2006 4:12PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Purchased and will be in my greedy hands, not soon enough. Thanks for the info :)

I still want Phoenix Wright, though -_-;

Wii Trauma Center a remake, not a sequel

Jul 27th 2006 3:54PM (Joystiq)
