Joystiq at NYC's Final Fantasy Day festivities

Oct 11th 2006 10:03PM (Joystiq)
***Correction Notice***
The New York Times apologizes for a most grievous error in last Sunday's Culture section. The above photograph was erroneously identified as a recreation of the Djiboutian Royal Ascension by the Citizens for Really Creative History and Have Too Much Time on Their Hands. Research indicates that Djibouti is, in fact, a Republic, and that the photographer was attempting to cover up his own shame in accidentally submitting a personal photograph with his work assignments. Naturally, said photographer has been sacked by llamas.
The event in question seems to be some sort of videogame party. As we at the New York Times are responsible adults who do not Satan worship or engage in murder simulators, we fortunately have no further knowledge.
Apologies for any confusion.

10 new Dreamcast games on the way

Jun 1st 2006 4:10PM (Joystiq)
I'm amazed at the amount of negativity shown in these comments. God forbid that an independent developer try to publish games.

@bv - these are independent people, not necessarily full-time publishers. They likely have "real" jobs and do this as a hobby, albeit a serious one. As others have pointed out, GOAT has already released 4 previous games, and I sincerely doubt that Dan would continue to do so if he were bleeding money every release. You might not have heard of them, but they are well-knwon amongst the DC scene.

@Kendrick - Dan underwent extensive talks/megotiations with Sega before he published the first game. I'm not privvy to the details of his agreement, but Sega does know about the GOAT store releases.

I was the Metroid Prime entry, but I would have given props to the Lion King coversion. Nice work, that.
