I don't suppose anyone on here has seen one of the second-generation (or whatever they're on now) Tamagotchis. Well, now kids can download game items from a huge tamagotchi at certain department stores in Japan. Two different tamagotchis can also get married and have babies. So basically, these things are even more incredibly annoying than before.
I don't get the whole whale meat thing either. I've read about how some school districts (mostly in fishing villages) are offering "whale burgers" to students at lunch time. As for me, I'm happy to report that I never heard about or saw any of my friends or business associates consuming whale meat when I lived in Japan.
I guess it's cool that Japan Airlines is offering this kind of service, but it seems a bit odd that it's only available to first class or business class passengers. After all, that's not usually where the screaming, bored-to-tears kids are sitting....
Wow, thanks for the post. Will this never end? I think I've heard just about everything now. Is there a group left that The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown, Ron Howard, or Sony Pictures hasn't offended or wronged? It's entertainment, people! Get over yourselves!
Count me in with the people who think this doesn't sound like such a fantastic idea. Who wants to sit in a chair, alone, for 9 straight hours like that? I doubt that too many customers actually stay for the whole time!
I agree with the original post here: I felt there was just too much screen time devoted to Santos and his staff. I'm sure a majority of long-time viewers would have preferred to see more of the old characters.
Count me among the viewers that would rather see a retrospective than the pilot again. Or, as someone else pointed out, a few scenes from In the Shadow of Two Gunmen showing how the crew first got together would also be welcome.
Of course Toyota is a regular company with problems just like all the others. What this blurb doesn't explicitly say is that the uninsured temp workers are most likely foreigners, which is why this issue doesn't get much attention in Japan.
Hyundai had really been turning things around in the last 5 years or so. They used to be the joke of the automotive world, but now they're in the top-10 worldwide and are viewed as a serious competitor. I wonder how badly this will damage their reputation in the long run.
Whether this thing works or not, you've got to admit that Japan seems to constantly be developing the best robots. They're all over the manufacturing robots, they've developed robot "pets," and now these things. Cool!
