As a new FiOS Subscriber, I can confirm that those bizarre how-to videos exist, and there are lots of them. Sorry, but I was never looking for a video service that would teach me how to shave.

I learned the hard way (and I really wish I'd seen this site before I jumped on the FiOS bandwagon) -- what I am really after isn't 11 linear Cinemax HD channels. I want to be able to watch my favorite shows whenever I want.

And a good video-on-demand service does exactly that. Being able to record the west coast feed is better than missing a program altogether, but it pales in comparison to the advantages of VOD. And don't get me started on having to reset my favorites after the channel lineup is re-shuffled to accomodate the 13th HBO HD channel.

So, tech people, set the record completely straight:

It will only be able to upscale from 720p to 1080i if it has a scaler chip, therefore no firmware update can fix this, and the hardware must be changed in future generations of PS3s?

Correct?

Gotta have game upscaling to 1080i, I hope....has there been anything new on that? I have a non-720p HDTV, and so it's sorta important if I were to own a PS3.

Very few people even know about homebrews, let alone would actually use them. Joystiq continues to impress....depress....just press.

What's really going on here is the most ardent Zelda fans are dissapointed in not having the Gamespot validation, because they know the Ocarina got a 10 from the same guy who gave it an 8.8 (which is a 9+ at any other site - Gamespot is notoriously tough).

If they're going to put all their energy into supporting the Zelda franchise and subsequently the Wii console, they need the justification, and to have someone they love so much like Jeff Gerstmann do this to their plan, it just causes so much pain that the only reaction is to lash out, and fast, and in terrifyingly great numbers.

Just make your own constitution and form a new nation-state. You would be so united that you would rival most South American countries, at least in the short term, for supremacy.

Or maybe you're just jerks, you know? And one review that doesn't look like the rest from one of the top 2 gaming sites is just too much.
