WiiFit gonna make you sweat

Jul 11th 2007 2:01PM (Joystiq)
hey! i just of a cool way to use the Wii Balance Board... Super Monkey ball or a Marble Madness game. since it uses weight distribution, you can control the way the ball moves. lean forward, the ball moves forward, lean back slows it down, and moving left or right the ball turns. of course, it also depends on the momentum of the ball.

How to get your girlfriend to play video games

Mar 5th 2007 1:48PM (Joystiq)
puzzle games are the way to go. Tetris, Dr. Mario or Puyo Pop. keep it simple, let her play a game that she can entertain herself with. if its a two player game... let her win once in awhile, but make sure you think she won on her own. it makes her feel that she can beat you. you never know, one she may actually beat you fairly.

my gf liked Katamari, but found the controls a little confusing. so, she would rather watch me, than play. i guess she has never played any of those tank simulator games. racing games are good, but again keep it simple, like mario kart or even burnout. it worries me that she enjoys crashing into cars more than racing.

Conan takes on Serena in Wii Tennis

@7 don't forget, Ellen Degeneres. she gave away a Wii before it was even sold to the general public. she gave it to some teenager who was blind and used echolocation to navigate.

they forgot to put the straps on... it would have been even more funny if Conan accidently let go of the remote.

28 hours later, Warcraft gets its first Level 70

it's intersting reading about the guy needs a life. do something else... blah, blah.

i am gamer, and enjoy playing games when i have time to. for me, gaming is a form or escapism... doing something outside of my "normal" life. i have a typical 9 to 5 job, a girlfriend, family and friends, a home and even a pet cat. i ride my bike to work, i'll go snowboarding in the winter and travel whenever i can (with my DS of course). but it nice to just stay in the comfort of my own home and play video games. with WoW i chose not to get involved. i'm a console gamer, as i can't be bothered to upgrade a computer every year.

my brother is an avid WoW fan, but has a wife and three kids. he knows when to play, and knows when to prioritize his life. his second daugheter is as old as his account (4 years).

now for the guy who achieved level blah, blah... all the power to him. i think the people who play and flame him are just jealous, as they wish they could have done that. for the people who don't play and flame him, just don't understand. no one ever knocks a person for climbing a mountain fast, or racing down a mountain or being the fastest in a marathon or the fastest to solve a cross word puzzle. sure those are great, but those are things i would personally not do. the only difference is that WoW was created by Blizzard - a company thats makeing money (which we all wish we had) from all of this.

anyway, my point is that you shouldnt knock the guy... so he did it, how does that effect you?

Europe: Nintendo accounts for 50% of total hardware sales

@10

yes Zelda is a killer app, but not for me. i dont have a time (work) or interests to play rpg or games that require you to remember what you did. the reason i'd get it for Metroid would be the first person shooter atmosphere from nintendo. yes there are other companies that make FPS games, but nintendo made the wii-mote, so they should have a better feel on how to fully utilize the device.

Peter Moore tells reporter not to play Gears of War

"the difficult position of advising a reporter not to play one of the top games for the company's Xbox 360"

what's so difficult about that? he is doing the right thing. if he lets the kid play, he would have gotten flamed for allowing the kid to play a mature title. i just wish more parents or adults would do the same to other young kids.

Europe: Nintendo accounts for 50% of total hardware sales

i'm curious what is going to happen when the PS3 will be available to europe? with so much negative feedback in the US and in Japan regarding the costs and such, will europeans actually buy a PS3? i have a PS2, and still play it but with playing on the 360 as my current gen system at home and the DS on trips, it is hard for me to want a PS3 or a Wii right now. so, right now i'm on the PS2DS360 boat. unfortunately, there isn't a killer app on the Wii for single player. maybe when metroid prime comes out, i'll pickup a Wii.

Gears selling like it's supposed to

Dec 15th 2006 1:08PM (Joystiq)
yup, i'm one of the suckers who bought this game... actually i do enjoy it, but i wish i had more time to play. as soon as i can figure out this whole lag thing on the internet, i may actually play well on multiplayer.
