Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia trailer has some bite

May 30th 2008 11:02AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
It's actually the US version, as stated on the site. They used the video from the press event in US previously. Lazy? Most likely not. Maybe too busy refining the game to be the best one till now!

Another Week in Japan: Hardware and software numbers 5/19-5/25

Hmm for those interested in Herakles no Eikou, I strongly recommend this to all who love old-school JRPGs. The lack of advertising for it caused the horrible sales, but trust me, if you understand Japanese (or when the English version comes out) and love old-school JRPGs, it's worth considering.

DSF, please do a review for it! (Just kidding, but I honestly think the sales isn't doing the game justice.. =P)

Famitsu brings us fresh Valkyrie Profile shots

I have a strong feeling the official website will be updated this Friday. Japanese game websites nearly always update the Friday after Famitsu introduces them.

Let's pray for an update so we can know even more about the game. =)

DS Daily: Simon says 'whip Dracula'

May 19th 2008 9:05AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
There's still a charm to Castlevania games nowadays. I'm still definitely going to get this one. =)

There may be changes, there may be lots that don't change, but whatever it is, I'm quite sure there are many out there who still love the series as much as I do.

DS Daily: Japan fans

Apr 20th 2008 11:10AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I have to agree with you. I grew up with Japanese games, and even when I was at the age when I couldn't care about the regions where the games come from, nearly all of the games that I liked were Japanese games (which I realised years later).

A lot of Japanese games (including budget titles) have a quality most Western game developers try hard to achieve: creativity. But, somehow western games feel more 'restrained' than Japanese games in general.

Oh and, I nearly forgot why I chose to reply you instead of typing a new comment: I read somewhere that Kingdom Hearts (PS2 versions for now) all utilise the Unreal Engine too. Which I thought was an interesting point to bring up here.

Rumor: Pokemans: Let Nintendo sell you them again

Apr 17th 2008 10:15AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Hey, you know, all of us who don't watch the Anime series don't know any new Pokemon either. Thinking back, when we all first started playing Red/Blue/Green/Yellow as a kid, none of us knew the 151 1st-gen Pokemon right?

Why not bring back that mentality, and experience the learning process once again? I went through the process of learning about the new Pokemon (there are only 150 on Sonnoh Island before you get the new Pokedex, and there are some from the 1st-gen), and I must say the fun in Pokemon that I felt many years back hasn't changed, albeit more fun than before.

There are certainly some new Pokemon you'll like, because after getting to know (from the Pokedex) some of the new ones that I found in the wild, I found that Nintendo is still rather creative and some of the personalities of the new Pokemon are really special.

Give it a try!=)

Boxart battle: Emblem of Gundam vs Front Mission 2089

Apr 14th 2008 12:16PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Personally, I prefer the Front Mission 2089 boxart.

I think the Emblem of Gundam one is way too cluttered and it results in me not wanting to examine it too much, whereas the simplicity and neatness of FM2089 makes me get the idea SQ-EX wants to send through: A dark and solemn struggle.

Other than knowing that Amuro Ray and Char Aznable are going to be in EoG, and that giant mechas are going to battle, I can't really know much about the story in the game from its boxart.

Just my personal views. Still, I think both boxarts are nicely done, and seems like the kind of art that fans would want to show off on their walls. =)
