It sounds like the wireless adapters are your problem. I've never had any thing like that happen to my TiVo, and I've had it for years.
And Mike, you can easily turn off TiVo auto recording in the options. I've used a dish dvr for months and I hated it. The interface is crap, the features are nonexistant, and the picture decides to randomly stutter at times. I'd stick with TiVo even if you are having these strange problems.

Or, heaven forbid these people actually get a job.
