This is one of the things that repeatedly turns me off JRPGs, pages and pages of text introducing your to a character.

I much rather the alternate approach, where you are given little smatterings about a character's background as you progress - I've been relying on them so much already, I'm more likely to care when they tell me that their species has been infected with a mutation that makes it hard to breed.

I agree with you in principal, but some of us really support XBLA (I own around 35 games) and it stings just a bit when time and again people who aren't supporting the service get the prizes.

Only being with Live since '06 what gift do I get? zippo. Despite feeding several hundred dollars into points, and gold, and creative club. (not to mention several thousand dollars on games themselves).

It'd be nice to perhaps have something like a 5% rebate on the points we'd spent.

Sadly, it'll be Guitar Hero for me, seeing as they can't get their act together to release Rock Band in Australia until next year, I need something to play.
