Halo stats blown out by Bungie as studio moves on

Apr 2nd 2012 1:46PM (Joystiq)
I know people lamented Bungie going with MS, but I'm personally a bit more concerned about any Activison partnerships. Yuck.

The Road to Mordor: Will the instance finder take off?

@Thrilljo I don't know, I'd believe that more if it didn't have an entire Isengard section in it.

The Road to Mordor: Will the instance finder take off?

I think it's just a matter of it being too focused.

We're already talking one server.

Then we're talking a certain level range.

Then we're talking specific roles.

Then we're talking specific instances.

That's fractions of fractions of fractions right there. And then you factor in the people who are on, but not using this thing. Then you factor in how many people are on at any given time of the day...

I think it is likely that you'll find a lot more to do at 75 (these are the people most primed to play instances constantly), but it's still a very limited pool because of everything I listed above.

The fact that it takes forever isn't surprising. I'd not be surprised if it happened in WOW either if it was set up like this.

People might not like it, but cross server is basically necessity for something like this. Otherwise never-ending queues are a given.

Awesomenauts: Fake nostalgia, real action

@jesus lol Same thing came to mind.

The guy otherwise reminds me a lot of Wario, though.

@Gooblechev I felt the same way and on many levels Glitch seems simple and almost pointless... but it does actually do a lot of things differently and quite well. I was more understanding of all of that once I spent a good amount of time with it.

Closure review: Go into the light

Mar 29th 2012 3:47PM (Joystiq)
@Coldheater While it is up there, I have never understood the placement of it. Normally on this site you have almost no reason to look in the second column at all... Yet on reviews I'm automatically supposed to think to look there when every other aspect of the review is in the first column and you'll scroll past the platform details by the time you get to the end of the review anyway.

It really seems like it's something that should be moved entirely.

@Vic Fontaine Doom 2 plays well and includes a whole new campaign. I had no problem with it, was actually a lot of fun! lol

But there are a ton of great XBLA only games too. When I had my 360 I spent more on those than I did anything else.

My year long quest to defeat Grandia 2's (almost) final boss

I wish they'd remake both of these games. The original was really good, but Sony really butchered the voice work. It was just unbearable.

SOE showers Vanguard loyalists with gifts

Mar 28th 2012 6:48PM (Massively)
I liked the game. I think the people who stuck around will be strong evangelists for this title. Plus there are a sizable amount of us who were interested in it and left because it seemed like SOE just wanted to let it die.

I'm relatively certain it'll be enough to keep it going. They just need to trim the fat and manage things well. If they do that, it's certainly possible to keep it profitable.

A Reggie Mii comes bearing gifts for 3DS' first birthday [update: Iwata too!]

Does anyone even run into ANYONE with Streetpass on this thing? It's a neat idea, but while Miis seem to show up on my Plaza I've never ever had someone tag me in Streetpass... which is lame given that Nintendo's games all give bonuses for it.
