The PS3 is an outstanding Media Center, but not neccessarily an outstanding gaming console yet, since MS had such a headstart and the Wii has so many more "Virtual Console" and party games. Plus it is also generally more expensive than the Wii/360.

Personally, though, I love the few, hi-quality AAA games it has over the vast library of mediocre titles on other systems, and I love the web-browser, media player, PSP-connect, ect.

Why would Sony let them? the PS3 is, after all, trying to be the premiere blu-ray player, and they are having a somewhat hard time moving them as-is, so why would they risk competing with MS?

Sony is trying to sell PS3's and Blu-ray players, not get MS on their side, especially since they won the battle already...

this is about more than money though, people bought the console to play games during my time off, and most of the world's time off in the next 6 months was winter break

Unreal Tournament 3? Heavenly Sword? Everyday Shooter? Warhawk?

This is pretty lame, they should have offered a free month of Live Gold option instead! If I got half-way through my meal at a restaurant and then someone pulled the fire alarm interrupting it, I would get a free meal, not a free appetizer next time! This is a regal screw-up, during the most game intensive time of the year (Winter) during the time most people get new games (X-mas) and we are given this token offering? Microsoft, for a billion dollar corporation you sure are stingy with your most loyal customers!
PS I never got my Live is 5ive bonus yet either.

I meant to add that 360 owners are paying a premium for the game plus the service, since PC games are pretty much universally cheaper and have a much larger user base (other than maybe Halo), this combined adds to the sting of not being able to even enjoy these games. Plus this whole thing sucks for students since its been down for pretty much all of winter break! I mean, its a subscription driven service, doesn't MS know how many people play on it?

The thing is, PSN is free AND works!! MS is just getting arrogant, putting ads on the dashboard, trying to do movie rentals, having their proprietary MS points system, ect. I wish they would just make sure Live gaming was more simple and reliable first.

Plus, lets not forget, PC gaming has been free AND reliable for more than a decade!

actually this doesn't effect me as much since I gave my 360 to my brother while I enjoy flawless play of COD4 and UT3 on my PS3.

honestly though, i mean if you bought $500+ worth of kit, are you really going to "throw in the towel"? No, unfortunately, MS can and WILL continue to screw you over, just like the 100,000,000+ Windows users, VISTA was the one time so far they've had to actually yield to the consumer...
