Jul 24th 2011 10:18PM (Joystiq)That should have been left on the cutting room floor. I dont understand why they are subjecting us to these obvious palmface experiences.

Jul 24th 2011 10:16PM (Joystiq)I am glad Hinkle is choosing not to touch this parade of embarrassment with a 10 foot poll. Shows good judgement.

Jul 24th 2011 3:12PM (Joystiq)There is no point pouring your heart out here. They are doing the Show for themselves and dont care what the fans think.

According to this link, which has a post by Justin, the Joystiq Show will be getting its own iTunes feed, which would remove the confusion between the Podcast and the Show for review purposes. It also says that the Podcast is coming back on the old feed as a monthly event with the triforce but its not the old format: "the concept is unlike anything that's happening right now and is going to be ridiculously fun."
Hopefully, we are all on the same page about this now, can put this transition past us and get back to enjoying the sites and sounds of Joystiq. Thank you.

Jul 17th 2011 9:36PM (Joystiq)Great! That takes care of the issues I was having. And we get a new new show as a bonus!!!! Ahh, you didnt have to do that. But, Yay! This is totally boners.

Jul 17th 2011 1:55AM (Joystiq)also, using the old show itunes reviews for the new show is unscrupulous. You should have started a new item on itunes. I removed my review and encourage others to do the same.
The Joystiq Show - 003: Localization of the Damned
Jul 17th 2011 12:21AM (Joystiq)Agreed. 100% improvement on last episode, which was much better than No.1. Doesnt mean that it is good yet. Need to put more XP into interview skills. Add the Cloak of Conversation and the Spell that puts your subject at ease instead of interrogating them with a list of questions. Ludwig is pretty much there, the others are still noobs. I seriously advise you guys to listen to Bombcast's E3 2011 shows. They really worked hard to create a "gamer" atmosphere for the interviews, which were more like just beer conversations. It was very impressive and you should definitely take note.
The interview subjects are getting more interesting. Mark MacDonald was good as others mentioned. Keep going for the big boss fights. That will be interesting.
But you guys still are total noobs at this, which brings me back to how you handled the transition to the new format. It is unforgivable and you should deal with it like professionals (acknowledge, learn the lessons and move on) instead of sniping at people who are outraged by it. This format is in its infancy and while it has great potential, it currently sucks big dicks, locally and globally. The only thing that is better than the cancelled shows is the intro music.
It will get better. Neither of the previous shows really had their rhythm until quite a few episodes in. I remember being mortified by Ludwig's early performances. But you should not have dumped the old shows they way you did and then started with an public alpha of a new product. If any game publisher did something like that with their support for a game you would have excoriated them and been right. It doesnt matter that it is free (that's your chosen business model). You did it wrong and the outrage is justified.
The new format will be made or broken by the quality of the guests, its ability to make news/produce sensations, and interview skills. That is a tall order but I think you can do it and I welcome the challenge and the new direction. Doesnt mean that what you did to the old shows was in any way ok.
