Jun 20th 2011 6:22PM (Joystiq)Who of the 7 million readers asked for this format? Did they do market research or something? Joystiq posts are funny and even crazy at times yet informative. That's the tone Ludwig set many years ago with absurdist posts about Japanese weekly game hardware sales. The show wasnt funny and the information wasnt really interesting. Its like they shopped in the bargain bin for guests. The content needs to be A LOT more interesting to give life to this format. And the interviewer needs to be a lot better. Otherwise the poor guests sound like they are going out of their way to be interesting but both host and guest realize that they are not saying anything anyone would care to overhear. I wouldnt want to sit on a commuter train next to any of the conversations that are part of this show.
Lets hope this is a massive growing pain, but I really think they should hone their skills on a second-line podcast before risking their brand name on a clunker. And Chris took all the heat for the first show himself?! Balls and nuts at the same time. I am afraid a new EIC may be in the not so distant future.

Jun 20th 2011 6:07PM (Joystiq)Maybe this format could be an additional podcast: Joystiq Taken Apart or something. But they gotta bring back the old format! Unless the guys dont want to do it anymore. That makes me a sad panda.

Jun 20th 2011 5:57PM (Joystiq)I like the new music too. The content was boring. I dont care about a list of lists or whatever. I dont care about Duke Nukem. New structure (parts I-IV and deadpan intros) is cheesy. This is not the museum of video games podcast and you are not curators. This is living entertainment.
The Podcast and X3F were special because there was an immature irreverence without obscurity, offensive or ignorance. It was fun to listen to intelligent people being focused but lighthearted. You had a niche there. This format is pulling you out of your natural comfort zone. Makes it feel cheezayh!!! Ouuh, mama, pass the nachos.

May 25th 2011 3:04PM (Joystiq)Giantbomb - pretty good, but gets nerdy
IGN - quick-witted, but too corporate
Destructoid - weak on news, weak on fun, personality cant make that up
Easy Mode - ears wilted, feels like I am eavesdropping on a superboring Xbox Live Avatar talkshow.
Come back, Joystiq!!!
NCsoft profits decline, limited marketing blamed
