PSA: PSN accounts changing to Sony Entertainment Network accounts Feb. 8

Feb 5th 2012 2:10AM (Joystiq)
Now for the love of God, can Sony please let us change them?

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg on True Crime, Bizarre Creations, the 'Hero' franchise, and transparency

Jun 22nd 2011 3:00PM (Joystiq)
I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree in terms of Hirshberg's assessment of the racing genre, because he's flatly incorrect. Racing games -- whether arcade or simulation -- have maintained one of the most consistent presences in gaming over the last two decades, and there's plenty of indication to support the fact that a good racer will find the audience to maintain longevity. There's a reason Sony and Microsoft consider Gran Turismo and Forza flagship franchises. By contrast, the release of Blur alongside Split/Second and ModNation Racers in the wake of Red Dead Redemption created a black hole that none of them were going to survive. That was just extremely poor timing on Activision's part.

Ninja Gaiden 3 preview: The evolution of mammals

@GuardianLegend

You should keep at it. Lack of story and blood, and that awful camera aside, the fighting mechanics of that game are butter smooth and beautifully executed. From the sounds of it, I highly doubt NG3 will pull many people away from NGS2 on PS3. We'll stick with slicing down finish times on the Ultimate Ninja challenges.

Codemasters takes down GRID PS3 and PC servers

Jun 19th 2011 4:50PM (Joystiq)
The lack of trophy support and general promotion kept this from really getting any regular play on the PS3, anyway. Still, it's a bit surprising since it was one of the first disc-based games available digitally on PSN.

WRUP: E3 post-party DLC

Jun 11th 2011 4:46AM (Joystiq)
Just spent the last six hours at a friend's house getting acclimated to Mortal Kombat on my MadCatz TE. As everyone in the fighting community can well attest to, the most fun you can possibly have with the genre is jamming with friends and practicing new combos on each other. Online play is so faux pas.

Nintendo stock loses another five percent

Jun 9th 2011 8:07PM (Joystiq)
@worldpattern

That's true, but there's a critical difference: Apple does zero promotion of their products leading up to an announcement, and the stock is artificially driven down by analyst speculation leading up to press day. Once the products are announced (typically shipping within weeks, if not the very same day), Apple stock goes through the roof again. Nintendo's problem is that stock dropped twice *after* announcing their new project. Doing so this far away from release was bad form, too.

The Wii U line is E3's most popular experience

@OrangeGamer

Day one purchase, even if the asking price is 349-$399? That's a lot to ask for what they're offering a year from now. The console update would easily sell for 249 alone, and there's no way those controllers will go for less than 100 each (my personal guess is 129). That's a lot fo money to be spending on an unproven product, even if they defy expectations and release the bundle for 299.
